Thats very true, quite often a nice bit of flying on TV is marred by rather poor 'rock music' soundtrack. Of course if it were music that I actually liked I wouldnt notice so much

I think he also had the disadvantage of never having properly flown the Hawk either. I get the feeling, after he said he'd been in for four years, that he was one of the RNZAF fast jet refugees. They came over about 2001-2002 IIRC...TobyV wrote:That "Kermit" guy seemed to have the flying down to a fine art, esp. given he hadnt flown the Hawk since his last attempt to get in. I think he let himself down in the interview.
I agree...Probably as little as 3G maximum...She wasn't wearing a G-suit. A G-suit is not really necessary for formation aerobatics but they do cut down the fatigue a great deal and the Reds wear them for that as they do a lot of flying. It think the Pair do "Snap" some pretty high G numbers in some of their manoeuvres and the other chaps also pull more Gs while positioning to reform after "Bombshells".Hot_Charlie wrote:They did only show her going up to about 4G though IIRC. I don't think R1 pulls much more than that in the whole display. I don't know if she had a G-suit on - Red Arrows pax normally don't...
Clarkson was in my opinion subjected to dangerously high G and could have been seriously injured when his head fell right back.TobyV wrote:JC was in an F-15 (unless he's done the F-16 too?). Yes I was quite impressed. I assumed that a man would be able to better cope with G forces than a woman, but that probably depends on whether you're in better shape than Clarkson or not
