Technology-level-wise, yes you're probably right, whether either of those operate in quite the same way as the Fokker

But then since we cant even start the Fokker as it should be

is an F27 panel Fraser did (two versions). Both are available from Allnodes.. just type in Fraser McKay and up they'll pop
You forget that these tiddlers had Darts and anything with a Dart will get Frasers attention!

Ok thanks for that, I have followed their procedure and will see if I can make it work now. Might try RTFMing before I make another attempt to start the engines though

That seems to have worked.
Garry to start it:
On the overhead panel (<shift> + 2), switch the batteries on
Uncheck the "OFF" on each of the four fuel pumps
Click the Master start switch above the engine selector
Turn the igniters on (left and right)
Turn the engine selector knob to the engine you wish to start
Open the pedestal/throttle box panel <shift> + 3
As the engine starts to spool up, move the fuel selector lever for the appropriate engine to the "start" position. Once the engine has stabilised at idle, move the lever to "open".
Repeat the last 2/3 steps for the other engine.
