I shall ignore the previous coment.................

I tried again today with the camera set for max pixel resolution and sharpness.....

The original image is OK untill I reduce the size, e.g. to 800x600.
That is when the jagged edges creep in.
I'm using PSP7 to edit the images.

I'll keep working at it.

"The image is ok until I reduce it"

Something not right there... much easier to reduce an image than stretch it. I dont have PSP7 but unless its got some very wonky fractal maths in its size change algorithms, theres no way it should do that. Use another program or check your settings in PSP7!!

I'm with Toby on this one. What settings are you using to reduce your pictures? It's been an eternity since I used PSP7, but in PSP9 there are a number of different options you can use - I always use 'Smart Resize' which preserves the quality better than most of the others.

.... I may be missing something here, but the image you have put on the website (the last one) is pretty much what I would expect from an image of 800 pixels wide. Typically, if you zoom in on one at that size then you will get jagged edges.

By a quick calculation, if you look at the lock gate, there are only 20 pixels for each 12" ..... so you'd expect jaggedness if you look closer...

Hi Steve,
The last pic isn't too bad. It was the first images which I posted, which were causing concern. They were really jaggy.

It's getting better.

We have found Irfanview best for resizing photos!!
It doesn't seem to damage the image as some
programs do!!

It looks like your pictures were shot at low resolution??

3.2mp should give good jpg images!!

This was shot at 2mp and resized with irfanview!!
