Well, after reading some of the other posts in that thread, can you blame me? It was, however, very rude of me not to even acknowledge his polite request - I'll do that now.

I can't imagine you being very rude Pete so an oversite is the accepted version of events

Let's be totally honest here. A great many of the thousands of airports included as standard in the sim are nothing more than a runway/runways and tower.. many don't even have a tower so there's nowt wrong with you making one similar

Even the most basic airport is better than nothing and useful for those that want to use it.

It can always be upgraded later but in the meantime it's there.

I did a default flight arround some of the Scottish routes and the airport there barely qualify as basic.......but I was able to fly the route nonetheless.

Anything that adds something missing is very welcome.

Ok the new images are now up on my site, remember that if you have clicked on the image, hold the mouse in lower right corner, you can inlarge a bit more if your screen is smaller than the original image
(It can take about 30sec to happen).

Looking great. The SAC club house was the bay window under the tower, I wonder who that is sitting in the doorway?

Strangely you seem to have 26L and 26R in one shot but I don't remember that arrangement and my 1986 pooley doesn't show it either. Is that something that was introduced towards the end of it's life?

Yes my Pooley's shows a left and right, I am at work at the moment so unsure of the year, will check later. But could you e-mail a copy of your 86 so I can have a look at it. Just want to double check the position of things.

I am doing EGCC circa 1970, but am struggling to get any pictures of it in those days. I should know the airfield inside out as a young spotter, lol, but I am jiggered if I can remember what the other side of the B-Line pier looked like. (To the immediate left of it, as you looked out from the main terminal)

Will keep searching the net. Have even got some footage from British Pathe, put it doesnt show it, lol

Monarols,

I have a book with some photos in, not sure how much use they will be but if you PM me your email I can scan and send them over.

Look out for a copies of "British Airports" from the sixties or seventies, usually authored by John W R Taylor (earlier editions) or Alan J Wright (later editions) published by Ian Allan / ABC.
