I still reckon it would look better flying out of Thorney, although they were based at Benson towards the end of their service life.

Not so. I have got a C1K into and out of Emma. Rick and Gerry F were there to witness it on MP

That said, there are a great deal of aircraft much smaller that I wouldn't care to throw into Emma so congrats on getting the 780 in without problems

So those are what those ruts were Dave

In all seriousness - having about 350 hours plus on the 748 makes
for a higher level of confidence in the Andover - Plus the aircraft the way Rick has it set up Screams to be doing this kind of thing - plus the unfailing
belief that if it can be done in a real Andover we can do it - you notice that
I a/. overflew the field at least once (I'll never tell)
b/. Landed and took off in opposite directions - the trees at the north end
look way too high and are too close to the end of the runwway.

This is the fun stuff that Flight simming lets us do - and as long as the likes
of Rick, DaveM DaveG Derek (nearly typed in Dave-dee dosey beaky mick and Titch!!!!) build such wonderful models then we can go out and try and do that stuff.

BTW Thank you Uncle DavidB without whom etc etc  :-#

What I didn't mention is that Rick tried it too (can't remember about Gerry) and failed. Weight... need I say more  This of course also comes from supreme confidence in the aircraft you are flying and what you can do in it. I was (at the time) very high on VC10 beta hours and thus.. I knew it could be done. I've no doubt that under the same circumstances and at the same weight, a real one would be able to perform similarly well

I do not have similar confidence in my abilities to squeeze the 748 into a similar space.. especially not under VA conditions

Just to Hijack the thread for a second

Dave - We've been flying the Budgie in and out of Hana (3800 foot with
rising terrain at the west end) and Bradshaw - (Elev 6200 amsl with a 4000
foot uphill strip into steeply rising terrain (Its built on the upper slopes of
Mona Kea) and they will both challenge your skills - However Boatr and Jetty have both done Hana with 100% - I have managed (just) Bradshaw
with a hit for speeding (Backtracking on the runway theres no taxi way)
Im looking forward to the 780s release and possible addition to Flynets
roster as it would be ideal for operation into both these airfields - That said both fields are NDB only and Bradshaw you have to fly a sort of a
dogleg approach around terrain (Im told by my spies in the islands that
is true to life (at present the only NON military traffic in there is a twotter)

Cheers

Leif,

I've only flown the 748 on 2 occassions under FlyNET and on both occassions I've had problems with the sim.. hence I do not have the confidence in it I did have. Another new prob I'm seeing is that when I change to another aircraft from the 748, I still hear the 748's soundset.. most disturbing on both the Rapide and Dove
Never ever saw similar during beta testing so I can only deduce that this load of flightsim is finally starting to crack  Oddly, the 'sound thing' doesn't happen with any other aircraft
