Police are sending somebody round today but couldn't give a time. My ins co have also arranged for the RAC to replace the window.

I don't expect anything from the police and I don't have a very high opinion of them. I really needed them to work well when I had a motorcycle accident a few years back. The driver that caused the accident left me unconcious at the scene and the police took their time over everything. They had a suspect and they WROTE to him to ASK if it was him that was involved.

Erm hello.... go round there, don't write a postcode and ask !

I know that people with a decent IQ or at least some form of intelligence would not make stupid 'off-the-cuff' remarks like that. :curse:

Well on this subject I can't really comment or would'nt comment as professionally its not my place to, especially without knowing all the circs.

As far as your car goes. If at all possible I would leave everything untouched and as undisturbed as possible until Police arrive. Again because the incident occurred overnight and with no offender on scene the Police will more than likely grade your call lower than the other issues that require a faster response.

As issues forensically canbe addressed with a SOCO officer who can potentially recover fingerprint lifts from the vehicle, although there is a high chance they would be wearing gloves. Regardless, if any blood is discovered in the car then the chances of a DNA hit are also very high, which in turn would lead to a detection of the offender provided they were on the database.

A high chance they are as its probably not their first offence!

My advice - leave it till the they arrive!

I had a similar experience a few years back, when I still lived in Peterborough. Saturday night, massive thunderstorm; sunday morning, go out to get the car (Skoda Favorit) ready for the trip to London for my nephews christening and ...rear quarterlight broken, car ransacked :sad:

The police actually arrived pretty quickly, to their credit; not so much to their credit were the comments that they would not be able to get any fingerprints, due to the heavy rain of the previous night, and we should look on the bright side, as Skodas (and Volvos) were never actually stolen.

The crazy thing was, we knew who had done it, they knew who had done it, but they weren't prepared to put the effort in to taking it further; despite living in the middle of a predominantly 'ethnic' neighbourhood (an entertaining mix of kashmiri, sikh, italian and irish) the obvious culprits were the only other english family in our part of the street!

Trouble is, this type of newspaper article does not help to promote confidence in the police. Fortunately my experience has been good.

I really dont see the point in nicking car radios. I mean you can pick up one with a cd player ect for abotu £20! And most of these radios today have keycodes ect.
