Nigel, I put it down to win10 being unstable.

I agree grumpy, it is only since I updated to 1803 that these problems became worse and what is more, Microsoft appears to be taking more control over the computer than ever before.

Trouble is I cannot remember the way to get it to install correctly & there is a lot of info out there in Flightsim & SoH about how to do it. Don't despair, there are answers. I do use W8.1 on my main 'puter though!

Got it registered, the fault lay in me, I right clicked on the FSX.exe went into compatibility / change settings for all users and then checked the box Run this program as an administrator.

Feel quite a plonker but at least tomorrow I can load in all my sceneries.
