I installed FS9 on Win 7. FS takes a month of Sundays to boot up. Once it's booted, the mouse cursor is black... no matter what online fixes i try. Some gauges won't show up and FSNAV won't start at all :wall:

Everything ran like a dream when i had it on XP :'(

Ah.. the joys of going forward and backward at the same time

FS9 runs a treat. It looks shite but runs great. Reminds me of FTX England  Can't get Active Sky Advanced to work with it though. Thought it might be an FSUIPC problem (ASA needs FSUIPC to communicate) so downloaded the latest FS9 version and installed. Windows asked if the program had installed correctly. HowTF do I know :dunno: I said yes anyway  I have FSUIPC showing in FS9 so I presume it worked. However.. ASA and FS9 refuse to talk. ASA thinks it's working but FS9 is ignoring it. TBH.. ASA working isn't a priority but it would be nice having something other than the default schemes. I don't want to bog the install down. It currently has Rick's Chipmouse and UK2K Humberside Xtreme (beta). Without a shadow of doubt.. Humberside and Rick's Chippie are the stars of the show  If only FSX ran the same... :(

Dunno what might be going on with your install Gary. A black cursor is indicative of a graphic issue. If I try and run in fullscreen (which I normally do).. I don't see the FSUIPC page so have to go windowed. It actually runs smoother windowed.. by that I mean it doesn't cough and flash when loading which happens when I'm fullscreen. Going from one to the other can turn the cursor black(for me). No prob with loading times though. FSNav needs FSUIPC if I'm not mistaken.

Got ASA to run :)

A combination of things really. Clicked off 'run as administrator' (which didn't seem to change things) then selected 'run in windows 7 mode' rather than WinXP SP3.. cleared all weather using FSUIPC and ASA sprang into life. I don't get the silly 'are you sure you want to let this program run' crap now either (running in Win7 mode made that happen) ;)

Hi Dave,

Sorry, was a bit slow onto this one, in fact you've just discovered the exact same thing as in my thread which is a couple down the list on this board. I had everything set up nicely and then suddenly one day I double clicked the icon and nothing happened anymore. Many uninstalls, reinstalls later, "run as admin" and "run in compability mode" attempts later some googling revealed the Win7 update which had killed CD checking. 9.1 update (which I hadn't bothered with!) and the NoCD patch fixed it.

In the end FS9 ran quite nicely on FS2004. Then I made the mistake of allowing Win10 on this machine. Haven't seen any advantages of Win 10 yet! Kind of wish I had stayed with 7, but since work finally updated to that this year, I felt I couldn't allow the situation of them finally having caught up to the same OS as I had at home

...Here's my thread... looks like you even commented on it (recently, but not as recently as your currently probs) with the right solution  :)

God damn it yes! My memory is definitely going down the pan :wall:

I have a laptop and tablet on Win10.. this pc on Win7 Ultimate and my mobile is a windows phone (win8.1). The ONLY advantage of having Win10 (as far as I can see) is that it will integrate with my phone much easier. That said.. if I delete an email (Hotmail/outlook account) on my phone.. it will probably still be there if I access email on my Win7 pc. If I delete (or read) mail on the Win7 pc and action it.. the results will show on the Win10 laptop. If I read (and action) mail on the tablet.. it remains 'un-read' if I access mail on the Win7 pc. Basically.. anything I do on the Win7 pc regarding mail will show on the mobile, the laptop and the tablet but the same can't be said from the last 3. 'The Cloud' appears to be the key to overall integration and I don't use it
