Rob,

Have you deleted the axis assignments as well as any key presses? Try deleting your fsx.cfg and let it rebuild, see if that cures it?

I have the same right rudder deflection with my cyborg X.
this is what I do.
with the joystick sitting on your desk pick the joystick up with your right hand. Inverted
thumb and forefinger Down, pinky up.
then invert the joystick so bottom is up.
Now with a twisting motion rotate the base using the stick left right. Leftright in a rhythm. .
like 20 or 30 times.. let it rotate til it stops like sorta fast .. not too hard, but enough swinging motion that is full right and full left
..... i believe there is a noise maker (rattler) that works the same way..

It makes my right rudder deflection stop. .... :dunno: ...
but it needs done most times i fire up fsx.

i think Keith is right in saying it's in the potentiometer. ....

Joe - Cyborgs have feelings, too.
Have you ever thought of replacing the failing potentiometer instead of inflicting physical torture on it?

RobDob - do you have a multimeter with which to test the pots as they are rotated?

btw, when my old CH Flightstick Pro started to pack up, it just lost the will to apply input, never slammed up to max.

Alas the inverted abuse has not solved it!

No multimeter either.

I've managed to find a friend here who is a 'closet-simmer' so I will hopefully try his joystick tomorrow and find out if it's a hardware or software issue.

Fingers crossed its a simple solution! It's getting me very frustrated!!!!

Cheers all thus far.

Hi Rob

what ever you do , don't mess with fsx or the joystick software.

the problem is the hardware., you may try some cleaner. But be very careful what you use.

Thanks.

Hopefully, now I've found someone with a joystick, I can rule out it being a software problem! Just thought it was unlikely to have been the same hardware problem twice, but then it is an identical one so I suppose if it's a common fault it may not be that unlikely!

Just as a matter of interest, I have always had this probem with my sticks...I have a simple fix...When I start FS9 or FSX or FLIGHT, I leave the cockpit and go to Spot view and the rudder will plainly be hard over and aileron and elevator too...to fix the problem I simply waggle the stick in a full circular motion and also wag the rudder full left and right with whichever key or button is relevant (I have no pedals). After this all the control surfaces will be in their normal neutral positions and will be normal for all subsequent flying until the computer is rebooted. I will then have to do the "Controls Check" again. I have been doing this for many years with various computers, operating systems and joysticks. It is just like the normal controls check that you would do on a real aeroplane except that for some reason it works best in Spot View rather than the cockpit.

If I forget to do it then the take-off will be somewhat hairy and the stick will need to be hard over to hold the wings level...However, a quick jump to Spot View, a full waggle of the controls and the neutrals will be re-established :)
