It was a bit of a palaver as it would not accept a .ca e-mail but I cheated and used Hotmail (and my old UK address. Well it didn't say current address )

As a (still) British Citizen, I was able to add my name to that petition. I entirely with Alex.

Last night, Downunder, there was a radio discussion where a visiting "Brit" was talking about the Queen being sworn to defend the C of E as the Nation's religion. He went on to talk about Her Majesty's later statements that Britain must defend other religions too. He feels that the wording of the next Coronation will have to be changed.
He was OK with multi-racialism, but felt that multi-culturalism was not good for the country. Apparently, you have large areas that are pretty much foreign countries within the British Isles. Bradford received special mention. Respect for their new country's culture seems to be non existent.

Mike, there is much truth in the comments made by your visiting Brit,and not just in Bradford, but perhaps this forum is not really the place for such discussions.It might be interesting to see the outcome of the forthcoming UK general election in May this year. EricT

The e-petition 'Please Don't Close St. George's RAF Chapel of Remembrance Biggin Hill' signed by you recently reached 30,284 signatures and a response has been made to it.

As this e-petition has received more than 10 000 signatures, the relevant Government department have provided the following response: We fully recognise the significance and rich heritage of the Chapel and the Garden of Remembrance. It is precisely because of this that the Ministry of Defence (MOD) has been in discussions with Bromley Council for 18 months to preserve the Chapel and the Garden of Remembrance. Indeed, the Prime Minister has confirmed that as the Chapel represents one of the most significant events in British history, it will be preserved for future generations. Bromley Council wish to create a heritage centre at the site and, subject to agreeing suitable terms to secure it, the site will be leased to them on a long –term basis for a minimal rent. As such the MOD will continue to work with Bromley Council to support their heritage proposal which we believe will enhance access to the Chapel and ensure its long term preservation This e-petition remains open to signatures and will be considered for debate by the Backbench Business Committee should it pass the 100 000 signature threshold.
