'Tis the season for the flight sim sales and if Orbx have one, I think I might buy their Open LC Europe ( which I think I want anyway ) and see if that's a better substitute for the UK than their dedicated FTX England scenery. I'm thinking VFR London might be better with OpenLC..
Ah, yes.... Open LC Europe.... i nearly forgat about that.... :)

After quite a discussion about it at SOH FSX forum ( some people got a lot of anomalies when using OpenLC and FTX England but a solution was found ) i bought and installed it and i am 'globally' very happy with it, also together with FTX England, did not see any anomalies myself. Open LC Europe is ment to work with FTX Global but, as far as my experience goes, it is not superior to FTX England, with or without Open LC. Open LC also doesn't make any difference to VFR London/FTX England as far as i can see. ( i actually didn't try it *without* Open LC, might give that a go but i don't think it will matter much... )

Here's a shot of Open LC/FTX Global over the Alps :

But on the other hand, here's a nice water rollercoaster :

It is probabely because i am using FSGenesis Europe mesh. I got tips that say that Pilots mesh will indeed take care of it ( and various airports on elevated ground ). I did not look into this yet because it seems that Pilot's mesh is quite an adventure to install....

I think the main problem i have ( and i suppose i'm not alone...) is that i can't seem to choose between the more or less fictional but still magnificent looking 'FTX style' and 'Photoreal'. Using them together in the same area seems to be looking for trouble...

As far as London is concerned, now that i've seen VFR LondonX i simply can't go back to FTX England's London... I think it's best to stay clear of the area... :) ( or go back to Horizon VFR UK, used to love it very much, still got all the disks.. B-) )

Cheers,
Jan
