Don't know where you got that date from, but that sound pack has been out for about 5 years!

They're in Oz.. that's why

Thanks for the link to the vid but it's a little pointless if I can't buy it! :(

Why would they release a soundpack without a model.. or are they assuming current users will buy it for the model no longer on sale :dunno: I presume the 'Airforce Series' model will come with sound.

Suddenly.. the Aerosoft model becomes more attractive 8)

Hmm, the date showing at the top left of the page was tomorrow's (in Oz). I went back and checked it again, to be sure.

Oh well. You never know - one might turn up somewhere. Shame they only sold their models online. (afaik).

Dave, I don't know what sort of price you are looking at, but PC Aviator has the Aerosoft version at £19 until tomorrow early afternoon.

Is it worth that? I'd say not, but others would disagree.

They also have one from a dev called "Fly Free" at $18, but I have never heard of them.

Of course, the third one (abacus) is not worth the air through which it's magnetic signal travels onto your hard drive! Even the $10 they want for it is too much.

Another edit: I see FSPS are also asking £19-ish for the Aerosoft F-16. As for the Iris model, I have been reading around the 'net and it seems it was a matter of someone not getting their money and pulling the plug. There was a link to an explanation on a Facebook page, but it requires logging in, and I don't even like to go anywhere near it, let alone have an account. :poke:

Hi JD :)

Yup.. I've looked around and £19 is par for the course. I could get it cheaper (just) from JF if I cashed in all my points but I'm saving them for a rainy day (though god knows why). I saw that $18 one too but like you, I've never heard of the dev :dunno:
Found a nice unbiased review online pitching both models head to head. The reviewer ended up giving both 8/10.. neither being bang on in all areas.

There was a discussion on the Aerosoft forums about a remake of their F-16 bringing it upto date and possibly including Tacpack...

Interesting.. it may also push Iris into some sort of action with their remake :cpu:

Dave, I've just had a flight in the Aerosoft F-16, in P3D.

Whilst it looks very nice indeed, I would hold off for now. I used to fly the Falcon 4 sim, and used the latest BMS version a lot - making some start-up assistance progs using Sim Voice Checklist for the community, so I know the start-up procedures pretty well. HERE

I struggled to do even relatively simple things in the AS Falcon - couldn't even get the oddly-shaped MFDs to switch on. Then I also noticed that many of the controls normally adjusted during start-up are not even operable in this model (they have one of those "2D" images of the switches laid over the top).

Also, when I started upping the throttle, with the parking brake applied, it started slewing badly to the left. I only just caught it for the take-off roll. The HUD was only legible zoomed quite far in, and the DED didn't seem to work, either.

Having said all that, it looks cracking, and the effects were very nice, as I pulled up in a high-G climb and the sim suddenly stopped, as I'd apparently over-stressed the aircraft!

Funny that P3D then reloaded the default flight, instead of the one I had loaded :dunno:

Anyway - I recorded the flight on video and am currently uploading it for your viewing pleasure. I'll post the link once it's up :)
