I'm content with how the HD3000 runs FSX. ... more than half the time anyway. I can imagine you're having a good time with it.

On the matter of traveling flight sticks. The Saitek Cyborg has the handle that disconnects from the pot.
I have one and it's worked out nice when some of the guys at the hanger (KLNA) want to practice IFR, or I wanted to go over things with my instructor. ((RIP Larrry))
anyway ... Maybe the missus will buy you one for being a good boy and watching that dvd as many times as it takes.. until it takes

... Truthfully, I'd probably start watching it with my kid, and when I see her getting sucked into the boobtube ... I'd kindly and quietly excuse myself to the man hut out back (in garden ) .. and service the lawnmower or something

I'm going to stick with my trusty old sidewinder. Admittedly its not the most portable in the world, but I can throw it in the boot of the car and not worry too much. Out of curiosity I plugged the laptop into the TV tonight and took some screen grabs with the 3000HD active and some with the AMD active. See which ones you think are which...

Strangely not. All those with the Navy paint are the AMD and all those with the Red and White hunter are the 3000. If not touched the cfg file at all, so its untweaked. What the pictures don't show is that the AMD was able to hold the 30 fps more consistently than the 3000, particularly when overflying some of the scenery. Also, even though I used static real world weather for both, within 15 of each other there was less cloud in the 3000 pics. Having said that, the AMD kills the battery, you'll be lucky to get 30 minutes, where as the 3000 will be good for several hours. All in all I think the Intel 3000 is excellent as a compromise card.

There are just so many setting s that would give fluctuation to scenery depth and clarity in screen captures.
BTW what else you got up in there. CPU .. memory.. yada yada

This HP 630 will give me about 4 hours for lite internet browsing a few videos, with the screen brightness half way.

Netflix over 2 hours screen one notch up from half way on brightness

Run FSX full screen and It may last 45 min. ... I'm guessing it's the side that's putting a hurting on it.

i3, 4 gig memory (probably slower than yours) and the run of the mill (if I'm lucky!) 5400 , under 500gb hardhard drive space..
