DG..

As the 'pre-order' ends at 7pm today (Wed), am I right in assuming we can leap online and download it any time after 7pm?

I guess we'll bring their server to it's knees at 1900 then or suffer 20KB/Sec download speeds! They haven't said how big the download is yet either :-O

Not had time to RTFM yet and took off with full tanks (don't we all anyway) Clicked a few things, disregarded the checklist (wasn't sure what it was doing) and couldn't get the nav lights to work despite the switch being made. The taxi/landing lights came on (they could be seen from Mars) but no visible navs. Maybe they're very small and I didn't look close enough *-)

Initial thoughts after a blast up and around 'The Loop'.. I like it  I was keen to see how the model performed given it's possibly 'modest' sys reqs but it does run fine on my rig. The cockpit goes a nasty pink colour for a second or so before everything falls into place if you've been outside goofing (and if you haven't, why not!) but that's a minor beef. I can't say I've really tried any of the instruments but certainly, the 3D gauges in the VC run very smooth. The little arrow you see in the LH upper corner pulls open a cockpit towit various windows (panels) can be looked at in detail and operated. A nice touch and something I've not seen done like this before. Much nicer than the defacto letters/icons to open panels :) On the subject of the 2D panels.. they seemed a bit stretched on my monitor so I guess this was put together on a conventional format monitor (4:3).

Takeoff roll was nice and she cleaned up well. Those 'barn door' flaps require you be ready with the trim button after they're retracted! It seems to fly well under power.. not particularly fast (though I was full - default weight for this brief shimmy) but easily controllable. It behaves very much like I'd imagine it would ;) Landing requires more thought. As already mentioned, those barn doors that drop masquerading as flaps cut the speed off in very short order leaving the model feeling a bit 'loose' for want of a better word. I'm sure it will be better at correct landing weights ;)

Right.. off to read the manual (when I've found it) to see what I did wrong on the first flight (which must have been just about everything)

EDIT: Oh.. size on disc is 452.8mb. I was a bit alarmed after the download had finished to see a security warning from Win7 saying that 'This type of file was not commonly downloaded and could be dangerous' :-O As you can see.. that didn't bother me much  A nice download speed too.. all 452.8mb in just 11mins.. much better than anticipated ;)

Pretty much the same as me Dave
The nav lights switch seems to default to "on", but the lights themselves are off. Cycling the switch off-then-on seems to work, although they flash rather than being steady? Don't know if that's correct or not :dunno:
May have to tweak those taxi lights!

Yes.. those lights are a bit.. err.. vivid aren't they :worried:

I tried cycling the nav light switch but never saw then on. Perhaps I cycled one time too many :dunno: Dunno if I have a set of Canberra PN's in my collection to check if they should flash or not *-) Didn't see a rear navwhite either come to think of it :hide: Still, these are not massive problems. Will keep an eye on the JF forum to see what else pop's up ;)

I'm tempted, but it will have to wait until payday. Strangely, the boxed set is still £24.99 with free delivery!
