Hi George,

I've never had any of the ES stuff, so it must be something else. Is it part of GenX? :dunno:

Yes, it is in the high-res inserts for Volume 1, VFRGenX-V1-3DO-StMichaelsMount.bgl

Cheers George, that was a simple answer, those 3D object folders weren't in my scenery library! :$

What might be another silly question George... If I've manually added the scenery areas, should I add the Vetors folder for each volume too? *-)

Can't help you there Ben as I've never added these manually and I'm not on the flying pc at the mo. The option to load additional 3D scenery is in the install routine and I ticked everything.. including the vector option. I'll have a look at my FSX installed scenery tomorrow.

All my GenX was the first thing I installed after FSX followed by UKVFR Airfields then Treescapes (forgot about Treescapes). I'm certain St Michaels Mount was there after adding Treescapes because I flew round the coast to see if I had trees! I didn't auto-install Treescapes as I found they sit in texture folders in the GenX areas so I just added them manually.
Incidentally, Treescapes (and the other ES scenery) was installed using the installer (ESI) on my E8400 rig and I lost St Michaels Mount on there too. I got it back by making SMM a separate scenery area and manually added it to the scenery in Addon Scenery so it sits above everything else down there (including ES scenery). I'm jiggered if I know what's causing the problem with SMM and/or the ES scenery but I'm tempted to take it all off.

Ben.. the ES stuff installs itself using their own installer (ESI) thus all the layers are as they should be.. it does it all itself :dunno:

Dave,

Do a search in your GenX folders for *StMichaelsMount.bgl and see how many times it pops up. If it only pops up in the 3Dlandmarks folder, and if the 3D landmarks folder isn't in your scenery library, then its not going to be in FSX, You can manually add the 3Dlandmarks folders for each Volume (that's what I've done, suffixing each description with Vol1, Vol2 etc) or you could copy the contents into another one of the "scenery" subfolders that is in you scenery library ;)

I'm the wrong person to ask Ben since I was involved with the development.

I have only one Landmarks scenery folder containing 73 bgls including 4 meshes. The only vector files are micro flattens for the objects, eg. VFRGenX-V1-3DO-StMichaelsMountFlatten.BGL

Ben..

3D landmarks for all 3 volumes are active within flightsim mate otherwise I'd not have seen SMM. I've just double checked to make sure they've not magically uninstalled themselves and they haven't :)

Regarding vectors and 3D landmarks.. vectors are installed as the first part of each update and 3D landmarks are the last (eg, 3D landmarks have a higher priority). There are no new vectors for Volume2 if I remember right.. just volumes 1 and 3.

Thinking about it, ES makes backups of files in the scenery folder too.. Scenery/Global/Texture.. Scenery/World/Scenery (though this is empty) and Texture: BLDK2.dds, BLDK2lm.dds and HS_Pillboxes03.dds

OK, then the only possibility is that you have an exclusion rectangle in some other scenery area which is excluding SMM.

Hi George :)

That does seem the obvious thing doesn't it but the fact is.. I only have Uk2k airfields down there plus ES IoS. In fact, the only scenery installed in FSX is Uk2k Airfields, the ES sceneries for IoS, Alderney, Guernsey and Shawbury plus my addons for Portsmouth. I've not made any excludes for that.. I wouldn't know where to start

Rather than make SMM a separate scenery area as I did on the E8400.. I'm gonna try moving 3D Landmarks for Volume1 above the IoS to see what happens :worried:
