Airspeed wrote:Sorry for being thick, but have you done all that by just using the SDK, or did you have to buy everything then get the SDK as a registered purchaser? I saw it in the list the other day, but didn't note details. I guess it didn't mean much to me at the time. :$
I've had the Superbug for a while, but only got the Tacpack recently. The SDK is available to all, (http://forums.vrsimulations.com/support ... acPack_SDK) so in theory you could make an aircraft work with it, but you wouldn't be able to test anything.

FYI

The VRS TacPack is now available as a stand-alone utility for a mere $39.95 ...

Trial integration of the TacPack into the Hunter. Just for fun :)

That looks like a lot of fun! What's needed from an end user perspective Dave?

TacPack Ben, and the Hunter of course  Have to use FSX, it doesn't work with P3D.

I had to update the model a bit to tie in weapon visibility to the TacPack control code, & add some simple controls in the VC for weapon selection etc.
Also done a loadout manager, which makes things easier. No more editing the cfg to change weapon or droptank configurations.
One nice thing is the store weights are automatically added as well.
Only the Swiss Mk.58 is updated for now as that carried the largest selection of stores. The choice is somewhat limited by the TacPack software, so some weapons are only an approximation of the actual types carried. Once I've ironed out all the bugs I can then transfer the bits over to the UK marks, removing any weapons that aren't appropriate.

Think I'll be trying that next month. Can you shoot AI?

Oh yes :)

Bear in mind that you do need tacpack capable aircraft, which are at the moment the VRS Superbug, the Iris A-10 & Dino's F-14 & F35. There are several others in development as well, such as the M2M F-15E & my Hunters ;)
Using the SDK is possible to add simple weaponry to any aircraft if you have the TacPack, by modding the aircraft.cfg, writing a tacpack.ini file & adding a gauge to control firing & weapon selection etc. Things like adding some cannon to a Spitfire is easy(ish). Full-on guided missiles & LGBs etc really need to be incorporated into the source model & need custom coding for radar, targeting and stuff.

So I'm assuming the AI needs to be tactpaked? Is there much involved in making something explode? I'm thinking it would be a useful addition to ai 737's

what about ships etc? Any thoughts? It could be interesting.

That's a great addition, didn't know you could add simple weapons to any aircraft, will have to study that SDK.

You don't need to do anything special to the AI. You can sneak up behind any 737 and give it a nasty surprise.
Not sure how it works with AI shipping. I think you can destroy them, but I haven't tried yet.
