Hi John
I've had this happen in the past on IE. Sometimes it was intermittant i.e. one time I would get italics the next time not. Unfortunately, I never managed to fathom out what was causing it so I'm sorry I can't be of more help.
Have you tried clearing Temporary Internet Files and running a Registry cleaner (I recommend CCleaner - make a registry backup when CCleaner asks)?
Also, in Firefox check that in TOOLS > OPTIONS > CONTENT > ADVANCED (in the 'Fonts & Colors' box, not The 'Advanced' at the top left of the Options window) 'Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above' is checked.
Regards
Kevin

Re: Italics???
Can you check your clear type settings (if you're using XP or Vista) Can you check in IE? This can also happen when your ISP pushes you through a proxy which caches the pages (but this would happen for most sites that you visit regularly)
Ben.

Re: Italics???
I'm afraid I don't have IE installed - I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole to be honest. I'm on Win7 Home64.
Anyway, I found out which console I accidentally opened - it's the java console.
I spent quite some time fiddling with it earlier, a lot of the typeface settings were on "italics". I tried to do some adjusting, but as I've never used it before, I don't know if what I changed was saved for this forum, or if it makes a difference in any case. I did take a few screenshots, but I doubt they would be of help unless anyone knows their way around Java?
Looks like I'm stuck with it for now - though I will do some looking around on the net to see if I come up with anything.
Thanks for trying to help, anyway
If all else fails, I'll just use my netbook for this forum.

Re: Italics???
It could be the Java version? Java is a hackers dream so its no longer on this machine, but its probably worth uninstalling your java version rebooting and then reinstalling the latest and greatest from Oracles website www.java.com

Re: Italics???
Fixed it
Seemed to be a corrupt font, downloaded a font pack from M$ here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... x?id=16083, installed & all appears to be OK now.
