Re: Is there a way to reset elevator trim to neutral FSX?
I think on most of my aircraft I have programmed the Mouse over Help Text, (at least in the VC) & this will give a reading of the setting in degrees for FS9 & as a percentage in FSX, but then I also usually have a gauge/indicator.

I think you may be able to do it via FSUIPC.
I'm not at the PC at the moment, but I'll check for sure later.

Re: Is there a way to reset elevator trim to neutral FSX?
DaveB has hit the nail on the head. It's not trimming aircraft in flight but correctly setting trim for takeoff.
The A2A Spitfire requires a certain trim setting for takeoff for example. But it's impossible to determine as the aircraft just has a wheel, with no position indicator.
I wonder why MS dropped the neutral elevator trim control option?
It's rather annoying taking off and then waddling around the sky trying to trim the plane!

Re: Is there a way to reset elevator trim to neutral FSX?
Hello Ted,
I have continued to pursue a solution.
I guessed, even before the esteemed Dave mentioned it, that take off settings were the issue.
I discovered two things on my system with my (non A2A) Spitfire:
a) resetting the flight always reset trim to neutral;
b) unless the trim was completely maxed, take off was not specially hazardous
c) My Aeroplane Heaven Spitfire, has no mark on the trim wheel, but there's a small gauge low on the instrument panels for both instructor and pupil.
I tried inserting a second copy of it elsewhere on the panel, in the hopes that if I could, then it may also transfer to other aircraft.
So far no luck. Puzzles me. In FS98, I put a panel together for my Oxford, and merrily placed multiple gauges for left and right seats.
Either I've lost the plot, or FSX works differently, or maybe AH built in some kind of lock.
If you can't get hold of the AH model, I can put a zip on my Airspeed's Flying Visit page, and you could check it out.
If anyone knows whether or not FSX panel cfgs work the same as FS98, ie the string of numbers designate pixels from left and top, then pixel dimensions of the gauge, I for one would be pleased to hear.
Happy Easter break everyone, and may your weather be kind.

FS98 Mike.. Hen's teeth!
Gauges have changed a lot since then mate and many have 4 position/size entries. If the gauge you're moving/adding is a 2D gauge.. there shouldn't be a problem. If however the gauge is a 3D gauge.. you can't lift and shift these as they're models built into the panel rather than a flat, 2D image of one. I don't have the AH Spitfire so I can't look at the particular gauge you're refering to but your tip of resetting the flight is certainly a good one

I think I would take, for example, the Beech Baron pitch trim (& the aileron & rudder also) & put them in a popup window in the panel.cfg of your aircraft. Its a MS standard aircraft in both FS9 & FSX & they are .xml gauges as opposed to .dll gauges, that way you can call it up when necessary.
I must admit though that I seem to no longer be able to show the Mini Panel either in FSX or FS9 - most aircraft have a Mini panel listing in the panel.cfg...weird

Yup.. agree on that and the mini panel Keith. Wonder if there's a fuse gone somewhere

The Mini Panel - I forgot, one needs to press 'W' to get it instead of the 2D view!
So there is another idea - add a pitch trim device to the Mini Panel....

Here's a close up of the AH trim indicator.
It looks pretty smart and unobtrusive, though I've not noticed one on any real Spitfire instrument panel.
I can't upload the entire aircraft zip, but if it's not available elsewhere, I think I could put up at least the panel & gauges as a zip.

No.. I think that's a bit of artistic license
Beware of uploading it if the model is payware too
