HS748 Engine Failure

Ok, just done the return flight. I kept the fuel heaters on once we had dropped below -5C and all seemed fine. If it is a failure because of the heaters, then this aircraft has just gone even higher in my opinion! What a great touch of realism.

Just to show last night's episode, I remember I took a few snaps with the FSX facility;

I always run the fuel heaters - but I seem to have experienced similar problems when de-ice was set to "slow" only...

Slow should only be used for heavy icing in lower temps, fast is for use when its slightly milder. Remember that in most if not all of Frasers panels the icing is modelled properly so that you can also overcook the driving systems rendering them inoperative.

Paul...out of interest...why does the reg plate on the panel denote G-ASPL on a BA aircraft??

Ah, it's because I like the BA Livery and when setting up the Sim, I put the flight number and Reg into the aircraft details screen and it alters the reg in the cockpit to read that which I've set. Well spotted though!!

Trained eye...one becomes sensitive to such things when doing development and I wondered if it was one that had slipped through

I'm not sure why the engine restarts on the ground but suspect it is an FSX thing. A microswitch shorts out the relight system with the weight on the wheels, and I suspect that because FSX doesn't do continuous toggling of the starter as in FS9, the cut-out on touchdown does the job, allowing a single turnover of the starter.

By a coincidence I've done some work on the revised panel for the HS748 in the last few days, and an additional feature is the AUTO position for the fuel heater switches, so that they will come on when a pressure drop is sensed across the filter.
Remember fuel heat is provided by hot bleed air, so if the engine flames out there is none...descending to warmer air is the correct course of action.

So just to clarify, once I had lost the engine was there no way of restarting it in flight in FSX, or if I'd have lost height to increase OAT would I have got it going?
