Unless I'm missing something I had always thought that one of the nice things here was that we didn't rubbish anyone elses work even if it was payware.

I still like it - a lot!

Hi Brian :)

I think what TM was getting at was the 'jaggies' on your screenshot mate.. taken on a laptop I guess :dunno: That's what I thought anyway :worried: Others have posted shots of it here (PeterM in particular) and we know how good it looks both inside and out ;)

That's probably what did it mate. We could always tell (years ago) when a screenie was taken off a laptop as AA didn't display well but that isn't the case these days with all singing laptops. I'm sure Ian (Speedbird591) uses one and his shots are always nice and jaggie-free. Must have been the scale down that did it ;)

While we're here.. hows the Dominie going? Well.. you did remind us

It's not.. You may have noticed that I've almost completely withdrawn from FS work. Wasn't getting the time now I'm a software author and to be honest my heart had gone out of it. That said I'm starting to feel the urge again, the 800XP has got me enjoying the sim again and I have been tinkering converting a certain old naval aircraft of mine to FSX.

Hello Mate :hello:

Well.. that's bad news but good news I guess. I can understand you losing the will to continue with it if being a software author is what you're doing day in, day out. This is how Rick felt when he started doing the 'Rig' models. Difficult to spend all day doing that and find the inititive to do more of the same for fun.. it's understandably not fun anymore but more of the same :(

Nice to see you up and about again anyway. If the Dominie comes.. that can only be good. If it doesn't, I'm sure we all understand the reason why ;)

Yes, inside my laptop lurks a GTX675M video card with 2Gb of GDDR5 memory. Jaggies slink back into the shadows when they see it coming  There's usually enough power left over to feed back into the national grid!

Actually, the real AA power tool is/are the settings in Nvidia Inspector. My card lets me run a setting of 8xS AA and 4x sparse grid supersampling, which allegedly vaporises shimmer.

And yes. I know what you're thinking and you're absolutely correct. I haven't the faintest idea what I'm talking about but it must be good or they wouldn't mention it!

BTW, I quite fancy that Hawker biz jet and everybody who has one seems to love it. Can anyone say definitively whether it looks close to the real thing or is any criticism 'subjective'? I'm very sensitive so if people were going to laugh at me I'd have to pretend I hadn't bought it :worried:

Ian :)

Funny talking about AA. I've just rebuilt the PC in the last few days from scratch. I'd changed various bits, motherboards etc and was getting a few funnies so bit the bullet and rebuilt it all. I haven't bothered with GEX yet (largely because I need to download it again, and I don't know if I'll bother with UTX at all.) I did pick up the GenX Parts 1-3 V3 upgrade disks and its lovely to see the Tyne bridges in full 3D splendour :agree:

Anyway, Jaggies abound so I installed the latest NVidia drivers and took some time to read the info for each setting on the FSX profile. I've changed a few things in there and its now running better than ever! The settings I changed in the FSX Program Settings (In the NVidia Control Panel) are:-
1. Antialiasing - FXAA: ON
2. Antialiasing - Mode: ENHANCE THE APPLICATION SETTING
3. Antialiasing - Setting: 8x CSAA
4. Maximum pre-rendered frames: 2
5. Texture filtering - Anisotropic sample optimisation: OFF
6. Texture filtering - Quality: QUALITY
7. Texture filtering - Trilinear optimistation: ON
8. Vertical sync: ADAPTIVE

I've made no changes to the fsx.cfg file and I have AA enabled in FSX.
