TBH Ian, I think your right. Its glass cockpits, if you compare how easy it is to read an analogue VSI gauge versus an MFD, the analogue instrument is nearly always easier to read, in the real world too.

The size of the instruments, not all but some, is a small problem on the 2D too mate. Maybe 'problem' is too strong a word.. perhaps 'issue' is better. I don't like using the pop-up's either but after around 70 VA flights in this model.. I kinda know my way around now.. even at the expense (sometimes) of not being able to read the numbers.
It's a smashing model though.. especially as one purchase buy's all versions

I've just done a circuit with the new, improved High Resolution button checked (

) and it's definitely more flyable in the VC but using the 2D is definitely more sensible. I agree with you, Dave, it certainly is a lovely model and I'm not criticising QW for accurately modelling the instrumentation! I will fly it, as there are a couple of liveries I can use out here in the Pacific North West, but I think it will give me eyestrain to do it too often

I agree with you - still a bird I need to own!
We'll just wait for decent gauges - and all will be fine!

Cheers, Nick. Yes, it's a lovely model and after the helpful replies in this post I'm getting the hang of working with the small gauges. It's worth persevering and I'm glad I brought the subject up.
Here's a nice screenshot from this morning's training flight. An autoland at Ketchikan, AK - which explains the off-centre position of the aircraft!
