So I took the photo anyway - it's not my fault the aircraft wasn't in it. Just imagine that it was in the shot 2 hours earlier, just coming over the trees on the ridge to the right. You could photoshop it in if you like

Next time I hear it airborne I'll scramble over there quicker!
Ian, thanks very much - it sure was worth trying!
Garry, that's right - and I think especially the type's last fifteen yrs of service fall into the era of mobile phones and digital cameras. So I really wonder on what servers that stuff may lay around - and I feel that there's an ever growing community of aviation enthusiasts that start asking for the 1-11...
I also noticed that youtube user rodjames has taken off some very good Hurn footage of that last days with EAL and Air Bristol - or am I too stupid to find them again?

I'll take a few minutes to write him and ask if/why he took it off youtube and beg him to upload these vids again!
Have a good week,
Nick

A quick update on this -
I wrote to the user and received a very kind reply promising to re-upload the vids soon. He had mistakenly taken all of them off youtube as for copyright issues with only one of them. Keep returning to his channel rodjames98 for more (some nice Viscount movies there as well).
Cheers from hot and sunny Vienna,
Nick

Just looks like, possibly, it might continue into next year, perhaps

Thanks, Garry. I thought I heard it today but it might have been a late straggler going home from Fairford. I've got some leave coming up so I'll sit in a deck chair ready to scramble with my camera at the first distant crackle of a spey.
I also see on the news page that the Boscombe aviation collection has been saved and is now on public exhibition at Old Sarum airfield just next to Boscombe so there's an added incentive to pop down there.

Sounds great, Ian - thanks!
Good to read that ZH763 will march on to 2013.
Maybe they can arrange a flyby to celebrate the 1-11's 50th anniversary of service...
That would be an excellent opportunity to catch some cockpit footage...
Cheers,
Nick
