EGPWS & TAS only work with good data. When the terrain data is poor or inaccurate, it's not going to help you. Sadly, in much of Southern Asia, the terrain data is almost non-existant, which is why so many aircraft crash at night in that area, even the most modern Airbuses and Boeings. They have to rely on poor navigation maps, poor terrain data, and poor ATC for terrain clearance.
