UPS and TNT are not based at EMA, that just aircraft based there not the company. Baby is a part of BMi so will move on

Its a shame really as its got a family link having started as Derby Aviation, then Derby Airways, then becoming BMI under the MD of my uncle.

At what point did BMI go from being a profit-making concern to a loss making one? My project manager (also out here but British) uses them to fly to LHR. When I checked the flights recently, they were cheaper than competitors flying from Switzerland to London and included a meal as standard (when did I last have a full meal on a European flight, business class excepted?). In my case, LGW is more convenient for where I go so I chose QueasyJet in the end, although I am starting to tire of the A319 cattle truck (the only ones in the world with so many seats they had to add an extra pair of overwing exits) full of noisy teenagers.

Returnig to my original point, I wondered if it was still a viable concern when sold to LH, I am seeing parallels to Rover Group that was finally turning round when sold by BAe to BMW. Hmmm.

I'm not sure, but back in 99 S&N flew BM as a matter of course and we always had food on flights, role forward to 2006 and they were £10 more expensive than BA and without even a free coffee on the same route. I doubt that's what made them unprofitable, but they cut corners on the Edinburgh - Heathrow route when BA didn't and they were the only competitor. I think Baby was a distraction, and regional couldn't compete with Jersey (Flybe)

Reminiscent of Channel Airways with two emergency exits each side on a their BAC One-Eleven 400's, the only ones so fitted.

Easy are done with A.319's, the last delivered a few months ago was stated to be the last and final A.319...the largest A.319 fleet in the World.

All the future orders will be A.320 with the 319's of course being around for years but nonetheless another four have just been withdrawn so they are down to there last 146 :lol:
