Nice to hear the views of the coppers
We were encouraged to speak as we usually would, the downside is that the senior brass haven't quite seen the funny side... I've a sneaky feeling there will be examples made. If that's because discipline would be justified or because senior management are completely out of touch with reality I won't comment in public for fear of getting into hot water myself...

I'm not usually a fan either Eddie but this series seems a lot more gritty and real. I suppose helped as the people on it are people I know well. I've been impressed so far.

We watched the first one as a recording, last night (always two steps behind).Enjoyed it, possibly because it's just across the river from me and the locations are very familiar. :worried:
Only problem was the missus asking 'which is Rob?' .So which scene did you appear in Rob ? . Hopefully not the one where their car got a few bricks through the back screen. :'(
Cheers

They didn't use the scenes of us they filmed for the riots sadly, although they did film me for the dog section one a lot more so fingers crossed!

The only coverage I got was the screen shot for the 4od player. If you look at the still image when you load this page I'm in the van on the right!

Well as a rule I hate to appear in and watch Plod Tv, sadly my voice has gotten on a few pursuits.. I was told to watch Coppers as its a bit different. It is, not the folk you deal with those characters remain the same as nothing will change them. No the actual Police ..they are on actually saying what they want and without fear, normally you get bored by the boring monotone talk as the bobby sticks to the pc script so as to keep his job! But this is more like how it is. C4 full marks along with the boys and girls in blue, who come over as human, funny and interesting.

btw now the air support is a regional one maybe I will get chance one day to talk your furry land shark into a target ;)

We may well do Tony. I did a shift with them last month and got about 3.5 hours flight time and really enjoyed it. It gets a bit bumpy in 30kt gusts though! I've been invited back to do a day shift with them too at some point so that's positive, I'd be very tempted to apply should they ever recruit observers.

Which unit are you on?

It surprised me. As someone who's only ever watched it from the ground it looks all big and stable, able to battle through anything. When I actually got up there I was amazed how 'light aircraft' it felt. Every little gust was blowing us all over the sky! Even flying in a straight line the nose was swinging left to right in a very drastic fashion, I assume as the wind caught the tail.

We did Ripley to Harworth in something silly like 6 or 7 minutes, the journey back taking about twice as long due to the wind.

It felt very overpowered for it's size too, not that that's a bad thing, the ex-AAC pilot was able to throw it through some mind boggling maneuvers to get it around the other side of a target when they went behind building lines etc.

I see you've got the same type as us too.

It certainly opened my eyes as to how skilled the observers need to be. Talk about multi-tasking!! Also gave me a far better understanding of how to communicate information to them during a job. The amount of time people kept saying "He's run to your left" and similar, totally useless without further reference points.

The big downside to getting on the unit is that our force provide 4 and Derbys 4, one of ours is civvy and the other 3 PC's so it's a case of waiting many years for one of those three to leave and then beating the many who apply. Not easy!
