Could be Dave. Might have to try some updated drivers and see how it goes. Last time I tried got an error installing the driver. Just been using the one that comes with Windows 7 Home Premium.

Yes, I have an Nvidia card, so maybe thats my problem, but as for Jimms 'smoothness' when in Full screen, that was my sons recommendation as it apparently disables some windows graphics & therefore gives more power(?) to FS9 (& probably FSX).
(Its all Greek (geek) to me!!!)

On my system I have to have AA off on the card on in the game for smoothness on full screen and off on the game and on in the card setting to get smoothness in windowed mode and it's then jaggy in the game.

Well I updated the drivers and have got it running in window mode and it is smooth if not better than in full screen mode.
No jagged edges with anti-aliasing on.

It seems that last bit of screen coverage hits the resources hard....often FPS shoot up when you go to windowed mode
Does here at least

Least FS2004 is working better now. Not sure why having FS2004 in makes the framerates worse than in window mode. Does on my PC anyway.

Ah the mysteries of FS9

On my machine with a very old graphics card, the frame rate is over 100 f.p.s in window mode dropping to abt 70 in full screen mode. That's with all scenery sliders at max.
BTW - I solved the problem of getting a corrupted screen in window mode by installing the latest video card drivers.

Why do I always try the obvious solution last ?
Cheers

I've got most of my settings at about half for all of them. The new drivers have helped improve performance.
