It seems it's the small one that causes the problem where the "orb" overlaps the FSX window.
You don't see that if you use the "Windows Classic" theme:

W7 Home Premium 64 bit.

Dave I use the standard toolbar, as below...

While we are on the general subject of frame rates and system performance however, I've just used the FSX.cfg tweek website recommended by Darren in this thread;

http://www.cbfsim.org/cb-bb/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=20985.

I let it do a new .CFG for me, and I'm using the external FPS limiter as recommended. The difference in performance is startling. No stutters, no graphic spikes, flashes, or any other anomalies.

Have you tried that website ? :)

Hi Paul,

yes, I've used that site. Didn't make a huge difference here, but didn't make it worse either :lol:

As you're using the "normal" taskbar, that must be why there was no difference. Ah well, worth a try ;)

George, I much prefer the Win7 Aero over the classic theme, but each to his own :)

I've made a small program that gives you a full-screen-type display (i.e. no borders, title bar etc) in windowed mode.

If anybody would like to test it, please drop me a PM, and I'll provide a link & instructions.

It's only for use with FSX in windowed mode. It could be adapted to FS9 also, but one step at a time :lol:

I think I'll stick where I am with frame rate endeavours, Dave. Just flew over London VFR and FlyTampa's Hong Kong & Kai Tak, and they move past very smoothly. This new FSX.cfg is working wonders. :)
