Hello Mate..
Now you have me baffled. I've just done exactly what I've told you to do and it worked.. that's why I posted. What else have you done? I didn't download any sounds or a panel as I've no intention of flying the HJG release in FSX. The 'default' panel and sound cfg's point to something not available in FSX which is why the model doesn't show (if you don't want a model to show.. remove or bastardize the panel!). The FSX cfgs point to an 800 (the 737) for panel and sound. Do you still have that?
I've just deleted the model as I already fly the EC version in FS9 but it's still in the recycle bin so I can retrieve it at short notice

One thing.. it struck me after I'd sent the last post. If you're using the default cfgs for panel and sound.. change the panel alias to read b747-400. The 737-800 only has 2 engines (shock horror) so only the left and centre will start. Keep the sounds as b737-800 though.. for some reason, the 74's don't seem to work

All in all, a well thought out and well put together bit of kit

Sri HJG. I know you're (some of you at least) die-hard FS9ers but mis-information is worse than none at all.

Hi... I'm fully aware that some of those making the install guidances etc. are not fully "FSX'ed" and I haven't had the time to dig out all the bug's, but this one is one that pretty frequently pops up, and the fault is as Dave very nicely puts it ... misinformation...
Even though we state that most of our aircraft are FSX'able, there are still many of the templates that are used, that are pretty wrong, including the aliasings....
I will get around them one by one, but trust me it will take some time, and I'm truely sorry for the inconvieniences this may cost you ....
There is not specific aircraft_fsx.cfg in the package as you have clearly found out, but there should have been both sound_fsx.cfg and panel_fsx.cfg's which should set the aliasing right...
But besides all this I see you got her flying afterall .. and that's the most important.

Dan you old bu@@er
I read that earlier and took no notice but having read it again, aliasing the panel to the 737-800 (which is FSX specific) is never going to work on an aircraft with 3 engines. I don't 'live' in FSX as you know but to the best of my knowledge (limited as it is) there is no equivalent to FSFSConv which you 'may' remember carried multiple 2D versions for single, double, triple and four engined aircraft. This, I guess, is because FSX defaults to VC's which the TriStar doesn't have.
Anyway.. I thought you went to HJG as webmaster.. not final link in the chain
BTW.. your TR on the VC10 has expired

Hi Dave....
Aye a Master of the Web I am .... but alas my abilities out in FSX is apparently also called for every now and then ....
And regarding the FSX-aliasing etc.... there are little or no knowledge around it apart from my pity self, and I must admit that I haven't had the time to run through all the nasty small buggers .... I will though start from and end, and by-and-by I hope I can nail them all, at least the next update will not have any references to a missing aircraft_fsx.cfg in the basepacks .... all the texturepacks need, as you may guess, quite some time to get through ....
I'll dig a bit more into the panel and sound aliasing .... I never use the defaults myself, so I wouldn't have noticed if you didn't tell me

There you go ... never to young to have a senior moment I guess ....
Btw. I must get on soon, I think I've been i Brisbane long enough .... or is it Sydney??? :-) ... anyway I guess I have to re-earn my license soon.... If it is of any comfort, actually my last flight in FS was in CBFS-VA.... so you may hazard a guess on how much flying i've had lately ......
Oh I can see it's Melbourne from my signature

Yes.. YMML. Too far away for me to know where it is but I knew it was 'out that way' somewhere
You have a job on your hands mate and one I certainly don't envy!
As it happens.. I never use defaults either but for the sake of the exercise, I downloaded the aircraft files and took it from there. The TriBus always starts cold (for me anyway) by default so it was easy to catch the fact I was one engine control short

I fly the model on the VA using Ken Mitchells panel in FS9 but had never tried it in FSX. I try to keep my meagre FSX load as native as is possible so only use native models wherever possible. I think Eddie would have got there in the end without any help but a second pair of eyes is always useful
You take care now
