I've had similar trouble and have just been setting AA inside FS2004 for ages. Never could get this vid card (or the last one) to use AA from the Nvidia control panel like they always used to.
But after some fiddling today it's actually working. :-O

AA is turned off in FS2004
In Nvidia control panel:-
AA mode = 'Override application setting' & AA = '16xQ' in Nvidia control panel.

This is driver 196.21, although they all seem the same to me. (260.99 did stutter though)
Nhancer not used (never made any difference on mine)
Card is a GTX 285.

Seems like the 'Override' setting only works if there is no in-game AA.
Similarly the 'Enhance' setting only works if in-game AA is ON. I never understood it.

The same settings don't work in FSX though, on my PC that needs the in-game AA ticked and 'Enhance application setting'. :dunno:
But I don't use FSX anyway.

I could swear blind that I had tried all the available combinations before, but perhaps not. Maybe this is just my lucky day.

Hi DM :hello:

I just snuck up on my AA settings again just in case I could trick them into working but once more, it looked absolutely pony with AA turned off 'in sim' (FS9.. don't care what FSX does!) :( It's an odd one really. With AA turned off in sim, I get jagged edges on the aircraft models and just about everything else. With AA turned on in sim.. the aircraft are nice and smooth (as are scenery objects) but certain paints misbehave.. BEAFJ on the T3 is one such beast, particularly the window surrounds. This, a complete bummer as it's my favourite paint on my favourite jet :(

I guess the root of my problem is that I need to update the driver as Colin so rightly noted, it's a B&W version  Fear stops me doing this so until one day when I'm brave enough.. I'll stick with what I have and only take screenies with paints that work and the aircraft at the 'right' angle :worried:

Hi Dave

Juding by the numbers my driver has, your 6.14.11.8122 looks like driver 181.22 released Jan 2009, so not that bad.
Mine (196.21) has 6.14.11.9621 numbers all over it.

Does your Nvidia Control Panel have the 'Antialiasing - Mode' setting, with the Override & Enhance options?
If it doesn't, it could be worth going for the update. Can't be worse than no BEA T3! :'(
I've tried numerous drivers in recent times and all have been the simplest download & run things, not like some of Nvidia's older horrors.

Hello Mate :hello:

Yup.. just checked and it's the date you've given. My Nvidia Control Panel has all of those options (plus a zillion more I don't understand!) and they're the ones I looked at. The major difference I just tried was 16Q for AA (mine was on 8) though I notice AF is application controlled. This wouldn't stop the jaggies but it might stop the shimmer I get off the T3's window surrounds. Other paints are just plain vile. BEA Pin is so bad with it's thin cheatlines, I do my best not to fly anything with that paint and if I inadvertantly choose a 'Pin' reg for a VA flight.. I stay inside  As soon as I turn AA off in the sim, it looks horrible.
I got this card off Techy (I gave him a CH Throttle Quad in exchange) and he'd said this driver was best for FSX as that's what he was using. I have to agree because FSX behaves beautifully. Not only do the aircraft and buildings stay nice and smooth, so do the paints :(

This is FS9 and straight on, the T3 looks like this..
Image
The shot will probably crop because it's a bit wider than our 800x600 default.. I didn't have the heart to cut her nose off  Loads of FJ Tails and most of 'em Tridents  I love seeing the stands like that ;) At any other angle, the cheatline and window surrounds start to break up and it's nowhere near as pretty.

More AF should help if angles are causing texture corruption.
I have AF = 16x in the Nvidia control panel.
On yours I'd also try AA - Mode = Enhance & just set the other AA settings as high as you can get away with.
I set everything to highest quality on mine, but a high AF is probably most important if you need to pick and choose because of performance.

BTW the control panel settings don't take effect until you close FS & start it again.

Thanks for the link to Simforums and the nVidea Inspector, Colin.

FS9 now looks superb and FSX is much improved, if a little slower. An added bonus is that the aircraft shown in the aircraft selection window of FS9 is now fully anti-aliased :)
I had achieved similar resuslts with nHancer, but believe that the current version is incompatible with the latest nVidea drivers (although the next release should sort that).
I find the nVidea inspector easier to use than nHancer, plus trhere is also an overclock facility for those that way inclined.

Cheers

DaveB...Just a thought...I trust you ARE using Fullscreen Mode. FS9 is designed for Fullscreen Mode and some of its settings (including anti-aliasing on) only work in this mode. Switching to Windowed Mode cancels these settings.

Hi Peter..

Yes mate.. fullscreen mode for FS9 (windowed for FSX) :) I tried DM's suggestions but the end result didn't justify the FR loss with AF. I still have it selected but at a lower number (4 I think). Enhancing the program AA seems to work better than have nvidia do it itself but again.. 16Q was just too high for my dualcore 3gig intel chip with LHR as I have it and still, the aircraft textures were breaking up a little. I'm sure an updated driver would probably do the trick as already suggested by Colin but I'll leave that as a last resort ;)
