Hi Nige
Tks for that

With all the non ex-BEA panels being based around ASYD (that's where all the shots were taken to make the panel) I'm always mindful of the DO NOT EXCEED M.76 label on the ASI.. even though this may have been a 'one off' as 'SYD was a special lady

I'm not clever enough to know what mach I'm going to be doing outside where I normally fly (FL250/310KIAS/M.72 or in this case FL270/305KIAS/M.74) so I tend to stay 'on the rails'

Ultimately, I guess it comes down to not wanting to waste money on fuel and where a real pilot would opt for a full ton, I'll go for half a ton.. the risk and consequences to me and my virtual pax being far less
This has been a bit of a learning curve for me anyway as I don't normally fly the 200/400's. In fact, this may have been my first 200 flight.. odd as that may seem. Of all my 1-11 flights, those done in a 400 can probably be counted on the fingers of one hand. This said, with DM's BCAL fleet now available, I might just spend a little more time in the cheeky little 200's as they look smashing in their new clothes

Flight planned cruising speed was 410kts TAS. Climb at 280kts IAS until 280kts = Mach 0.72 then maintain Mach 0.72. Descent exact opposite - Maintain Mach 0.72 until it equals 280 kts IAS then maintain 280. FL330 gives about 245kts IAS/410kts TAS.
Good rule of thumb for a jet (at normal cruising levels, FL290+) to calculate your True Air Speed is add half the flight level to your Indicated Air Speed i.e. lets say 245KIAS at FL330 = 245 + 165 = 410.

Hi Nige
That's great mate and now it's committed to print.. I'll be able to refer back to it

I've decided I'll take little JG down as far as GCLP as it's a destination I've not flown to before. As for going all the way down.. I'm still suffering from doing it in a Viking so I think I'll leave it this time. Also.. I'm pretty sure we have a Viscount based out in the Canaries doing the island runs so I may do that too

With the -200, above FL250 you're not going to maintain 280/0.72, once you get down to an ROC of 500fpm you've got to start letting the speed bleed off and catch it up once you level off.

I'm on my way to Africa too now, there's no BCal 200s left at Gatwick.
I'm cheating though using 4x and my copilot (modern autopilot) takes the boring bit in the middle.
I don't know how you can handle more than an hour at 1x.
I see Nige is nearly at Lagos now.
Nice pics Dave. I think that older style livery on ASJG is better than the later style.

Hello Mate
Well.. that's what I thought but for some reason, I didn't appear to have it. I checked on Allnodes and what came up wasn't by you and it was FS2000 (gads.. nightmare). However, I looked again at what I had but at the paints and the paint I have for Canaria is DYC but the cfg entry from Frasers pack reads EC-DXU

So.. it was there all the time but under an assumed identity
Anyway.. I flew it Los Rodeos to La Palma and back and have had enough. Got my ticket back to Las Palmas and am waiting in the bar for DM to arrive with his credit card

I'll be off back to Lisbon on the 'morrow
