So from what I have read, all you are paying for is a set of flightplans and an aircraft? No scenery or anything.

That's exactly it AD. The reviewers gripe was that the package is expensive given the quality of the model. A set of flightplans is neither here nor there and could be produced by any simmer so he expected the model to be of much better quality. Had there been scenery landmarks included 'along the way'.. that wouldn't have been so bad but isn't. The best option is to download one of the many freeware models available at the Pond if you're an FS9 user or download DG's FSX model and 'Discover Great Britain' yourself

As Dave says some folks think they must be getting something better, simply because they've paid for it.

Just read the review (with some amusement) the panels are all identical (now theres a novelty).

As to why people would pay good money for an aeroplane that is already covered excellently for both Fs9 or FSX and a set of flight plans one can build oneself is beyond me - As Mr Booker already stated you can already do the same at The Pond for a lot less.....and if you are to lazy to build your own flight plans Dave Hasdell has already issued two "Auster tours" (the nice thing is you can fly your favorite airplane with any of them -- I just flew both the Cornish
and the Devonshire trips in my favorite Hornet Moth (G-ADKL thanks to Frank Elton and Pete Watkins) around them using some added scenery (suggested in the package) Now let me see will FCS get my hard earned plastic? dont think so.............

At least Dave Moly and I had the bright idea of building an Auster factory for Fs9 BEFORE he set out on his Auster Audessy......pun intended

Don't forget DaveG's incredible Auster Autocrat. One of my favourite aircraft in FSX.

And Dave Moly's Austers really good for low and slow flying in FS2004.

I am looking for an add-on Auster AOP 6 or 9 such as I flew with the Army in Malaya many years ago. FS2004, FSX or both. Perhaps you could point me in the right direction. With thanks. Bob Lomas.

We have an Auster J1 available in our library here.. native FSX but if it's AOP's you're after, go to www.classicbritishfiles.com .. a sister site from here and you'll find more Austers of various flavours than you'll ever have time to fly They're FS9 native from what I remember but will port into FSX with little problem. Decent soundsets available from there too

I've been reading a 'History of RAF Involvement in Conflicts' type book recently and noted that the Auster AOP6 was used very successfully in the 'anit-terrorism/COIN' role in the first Cyprus emergency back in the '50s. Especially spotting EOKA movements around Troodos, whenceupon the Sycamores would be called in to drop a bunch of grunts to sort them out.
Unlike the Chipmunks which were later called in for the same task, but found totally unsuitable.

It's a shame that there is no worthwhile scenery of Cyprus (maybe my UTX Europe covers it - will have to go and check it out), with which one could re-enact such an operation, perhaps with an FSX mission.
