Saw the RAF tanker version over Essex on Saturday. That was pretty sweet and a nice surprise as it was in a flight with two VC-10s, a Nimrod, quite a few Typhoons, Harriers and Tornados, plus a few unidentified hangers on. Nice and low over the church we were at... Was possibly a divert fly-past for the golden wedding anniversary celebrations we were attending as one person had asked the Red Arrows if they were around. Unfortunately they weren't, but they may have passed the info on... Nice to think that anyway.

AFAIK The worlds population of flying Tristars are the RAF examples and three others.
I take it the Nimrod was an MR4?

I would imagine it was... My type spotting is dodgy at best, let alone variation recognition.
They were coming over in waves, lead lot were Typhoons, followed by the two 10s, then some twin engine RJ thing with a couple of Harriers, then some Tornados, followed by the Nimrod with some other small jets. There were a few other bits and bobs in there... Photos were taken by others, but I've not seen them yet. I stand to be corrected on the sequence and the types, this is from my dodgy memory.
Perhaps one of our resident 10 pilots were there and can shed some light on proceedings when they come here.
