Download AI Flight Planner from here http://members.shaw.ca/aifp/

On the files menu select "Convert FS9 traffic Files to FSX" job done ;)

make sure to remove ANY FS9 format files from your FSX directory structure.

This tool is also great for creating new flight plans.

Thanks, Ben. It looks easy enough .. but!

When I click on the 'convert' option I get a popup with a directory tree to select the traffic files but when I try to expand it I get the following error message:

The operating system refuses access to the contents of this folder. Access to the path: C:\PerfLogs is denied.

So I can't select any traffic files to convert. Any idea how to get round this? Windows 7 32bit.

Cheers

Ian :)

Strange one mate, I'm on Windows 7 (x64) and no problems. Where have you installed the AI flightplanner tool?

What I'd suggest is to remove all of the traffic files from FSX and put them in a new folder, say X:\traffic\FS9 and create another folder X:\traffic\FSX then when you run the converter, point it to the FS9 folder for the old traffic files and the FSX one for the new ones. Alternatively email me over your FS9 ones in a zip and I'll convert them and send them back :)

I've put the unzipped AI Flightplanner folder in to the main FS9 folder and run it from there. I also tried it from the desktop with the same result. Thanks for the offer of the conversion but with all the WoAI files it's 42 Mb so I really need to find a way to do it myself.

I suppose I could write some new ones for my Kai Tak traffic using flightplanner and then I'll have to reload all the WoAI using the FSX installer :wall: It'll take a while but in the meantime I'll live without ships. I can still go to FS9 if I want ships badly enough

Thanks, Ben.

42MB is nothing matey, especially after its all zipped.

Top tip though.... never ever ever install utilities into your main FS9 or FSX folder, this isn't where they should live.

You could try right clicking on the AI Flight planner exe and selecting run as administrator and see how that goes? Can you let me know if that works?

Reference 2D panels, I think you can get to them by hitting A in the VC, this should cycle through the cockpit views, one of which should be the 2D panel. I think. It may depend on settings in the aircraft.cfg but I don't think so.

 You are The Man, Ben! 'Run as Administrator' did the trick and all the traffic files converted perfectly.

I found the Trident 2D panel via the menu OK, ta. I've put it away now but I'll try Skippy's tip next time - thanks.

Many thanks for your help. I think I'll leave it at that for today and see if I can find you some more problems next week!

Cheers again
