Hi Leif :hello:

Merry Christmas!

I don't read any particular rant/moan/complaint or whatever about rar files.. simply that the whole file doesn't appear to be downloading and for those with the rar file, it is corrupt. No one here seems to have been successful downloading the file mate *-)

Hi Leif

Not sure if i upset you or who to be honest.

Got the gannet after a few tries.

Basically anyone running windows xp sp3/vista or windows 7 with the security set to medium or above will have trouble with rar files.

since windows 95 "zip" compression has been built in so no need for winzip here.

was not complaining at all.

only use rar on very large files as it compresses better than zip

Cheer up mate i don't see any complaints in the bad sense :xgrin:

Regards
Rick

thanks Rick
just a sh**ty day in paradise
Rob and I both just downloaded the file in toto just now (mine took less than a minute)

Here for those who have ANY problems at the The Pond - is the file which I just downloaded from there and uploaded to
a large file service - it sort of defeats the purpose because the idea is to keep a certain amount of control over the finished product so People Like Rob, Keith , Dave Moly etc can update and add to their gifts.

Here is the direct link for those having trouble downloading from the Pond
it will remain active for 48 hours

http://www.transferbigfiles.com/Get.asp ... e789bd5c41

And thanks for your file Rick I'll add it to Peter Forsters package for Llanbedr

Thanks Dave
I do believe Rob corrected your suggestion hope you of all people have a great time trapping

Its probably a good thing I came here before Going to Simouthouse

Trev -- if you wish you run the bloody website I think your comments here and at Simouthouse to be rude and
uncalled for -- The Pond isnt passworded,is based on a server in the US and has NO bandwidth problems

The problem is NOT with us -- its your provider that cant handle the job

Im tired of this self serving" I cant get it so it must be the website and its Admin staff that screwed up!!!!"

And one other thing - before you make statements like "Ive watched this develop with interest" post your thanks at
Classic British Flight Sim forum -- I suggest you ASK Rob himself where 90% of the information , impetus and support
for the gannet came from,.,,,,,

I quit

Hi Leif :hello:

To some degree, yes. I can live with it. ;) Pretty easy to trap with (always a bonus as far as I'm concerned) and the default VC position is just about bang on for that sort of ops :)

I am sorry if there has been a problem with the Gannet, I am still learning the trade and I was not aware of rar's shortcomings, I like it and have never had any difficulty using it, I'm on win7 and have just downloaded the Gannet with no probs, but I see the corrupt file that Rick speaks of, pilot_night, was added at the last minuet and was never included in the beta, should I replace this file, do you think?

Downloaded and installed with no problems.

Been waiting for a Gannet since I went over to FSX. Fantastic model :welldone: . Congrats to all concerned.

Really looking forward to getting this installed. It looks superb, well done

I don't have a rar program installed so I'll need to download it in work unrar it and zip it back up.

Ben (et al)

Rob very kindly rewrapped it in zip form -- I have put it back up at the Pond in that format for those who were unable to get at it.

the offending rar file has magically vanished
