Did you try the round robin trip, Stream train from Paignton to Kingswear, Ferry across to Dartmouth, trip up the River Dart to Totnes and Bus back to Paignton, if weather is good its a great trip,

Hi Paul, we were seriously considering doing the round robin but unfortunately with only three full days to play with it was sadly put to one side, we had considered going on the trip on Friday before driving home but with 275 miles to cover that would have meant a very long day and late arrival back.

One evening that I really found pleasant was in Torquay itself, I do not usually go to pubs prefering a quiet drink at home but found one public house where there was seating outside (continental style) by the harbour, although dark it was a very mild evening and was wonderful to sit there looking across at the harbour whilst supping a pint with the dear wife who settled for a couple of dry white wines, so tranquil and peaceful and what's more.....no noisy drunks to spoil the evening.

Nigel, I hear you on the peace and quiet aspect, I haven't been back to the UK since "93 but seeing your pics and looking at some others
it has to be on my agenda before too long.
I was stationed at Culdrose on and off from '69-'76 and have a yearning to see it all again in Cornwall. The smugglers inn with the tunnel
behind the fireplace in the pub leading down to the shore from ages past.

Your shots of the boats moored in the harbor bring it all back just how nice parts of the UK really are. If and when I do make it across the
pond of course I have to fit in a visit to HMS Ganges......what's left of it for old times sake.

Hi Seaking, this was our very first visit down south, my parents used to live at St Briavels Gloucestershire overlooking the Wye Valley, that is about the furthest we have been apart from when I was very young (coming later) the view they had from their bungalow overlooked the valley and around this time of year the Autumn Tint of the trees is something to behold, another feature was of the early morning mist that would roll across the valley and you could look down onto the top of it, only now wish that I had taken photographs of those events.

As for Cornwall as a youngster of 12 or 13 years my parents took us down to Cornwall, a place called Little Orchard Village, St Ives if my memory serves me correct, can still remember some of the places we went to, very isolated in comparison to resorts further North but wonderfully peaceful. Definately going to save up for a visit down there next year, some time ago Eddie posted some wonderful pictures of Cornwall so he will certainly be on my list for enquiries. Whilst most commercial resorts can change visually and also for the worst, I much prefer the sleepy picturesque villages and fishing ports untouched by commercialisation and companies with their annoying games venues where machines wail at 90+decibals you as you pass by.........or am I just getting older and less tolerant?
