Some smoke effects I've seen have been crap, yet some have looked really good. What's the problem with the smoke you're using? I may be able to find some better alternatives...
Hi Adam,
I don't use any smoke effect for the 1-11 in FSX. Last time I did so they were about 10 feet above the engines exhausts.
Just left em out.

That'd be something to do with the coordinates for effect placement being switched around. I believe if the FS9 coordinates in the smokesystem entry were 12, 34, 56, then for FSX you'd have to switch it to 56, 12, 34 (if I remember correctly).

Yep Adam
That changed the orientation of the co-ordinates......why they did that is something lost to reason

I wouldn't expect anything less from a Microsoft product. Change for the sake of change.

Add my name to the REX2.0 fan club, I'd do some more amazing REX screenshots but I'd only be covering what Vegas has already posted. Note to Vegas if he doesn't already know: make sure you always run FSX from REX so it resets your TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD back to 4096 as fsx will reset it to 1024 if you change any settings in fsx.

Cheers for the comments Guys.
Squirrel, I found that one out the other day. Its something to bear in mind especially as load times take ages for the first time when textures are loaded in.

Anyone know how to do that if you're running FSX via FPS Limiter (executable is FPS_Limiter_0.2\fsx.exe.limited.bat)? REX seems to asume the executable is the standard FSX.exe

Andy, does FPS Limiter make any realtime changes to the fsx.cfg file? If you change any settings withing FSX it will update this config file with a default TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD value of 1024, however should FPS Limiter not write to the config file you could always make the change yourself and then never make another change from within FSX options (or if you do, then set the TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD manually back to 4096).
Always make a copy of the config file before you make any changes so you can put it back after if all goes SNAFU. The default fsx.cfg file is at:
C:\Documents and Settings\your_username\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX\fsx.cfg edit it with wordpad and find theTEXTURE_MAX_LOAD entry. Make the change and save the config file.
Please remember to make that config file backup copy as I do not wish anyone to have to fix a broken installation of FSX.
