Right guys...... dunno who's more confused with my ramblings...... and I haven't had a drop!
So, scrub all my inane bumblings up to now.
I was confused because of the layouts at the back of the PCs.... anyway I have a spare DVI input on the old Samsung monitor, but I only have a spare HDMI out on the new PC. (Neither monitor has HDMI in) (The new PC does not have a VGA socket).
So, will a HDMI to DVI conerter lead do the trick?

EDIT
Here's the connections available. Old PC is VGA out to monitor, which has a second (DVI) input). the new PC only has DVI and HDMI out. It's connected on the DVI socket, so I think I'm pretty scuppered for a dual setup, as HDMI is useless for the old monitor (the new monitor doesn't have HDMI in so I can't go down that road)
Righty... I think were getting somewhere. HDMI is't useless for an old monitor... SO long as it has a DVI connector. Maplin (amongst other places) have a DVI - HDMI converter. I have one here. Its the same idea as VGA - DVI. You conect the DVI converter to the DVI port on the monitor and plug the HDMI cable into the back of that.
So... We now know that the new PC has HDMI and DVI out puts. What we need to know is what are the connections available on Monitor 1 and Monitor 2.

This should solve your problem...it is a USB to VGA adapter, it can be set up to run extended mode so you can have two monitors. May not be great for games etc but will run FSNav perfectly.
I have two monitors a 22" and a 17" running from the video cards two outputs. I have a spare 17" monitor and I am considering this so I can have all three going, just for the fun of it.
Anyway read a review on this and it works very well.

perfecto... righty, take the new monitor and conect it from DVI on new PC to DVI on New monitor (probably the way it is at the mo)
Next get an HDMI cable from new PC to a HDMI - DVI converter and plug that into the DVI port on the second monitor.
viola! two monitors on one PC
If you already have a DVI cable, this is the connector you need....
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=97901
If not, there is actualy a complete cable you can get now....
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=48585
Which will be cheaper than buying the converter and the cable separately.
[EDIT] You don't need Tony's USB video card, you've already got 2 outputs on the video card you have
