Hi Dave,
roger all...I will take an eye over the tanks.
And....is there some hope that my flight will be restored?

Hi Chaps
I only found out about refuelling points from this being talked about at FSA recently. I'd never heard of them before.
Had a look in the FS2004 documents about them and it says you have to go up to a refuel point & park you aircraft to take on fuel.
It doesn't seem right that you should ever get refuelled by taxiing past one.
As a test, I parked up a few times along that taxi way at 1975 EGCC & couldn't get anything to happen. Gate 9 the same result.
That FSNAV map doesn't look right for the 1975 EGCC scenery. Modern day runways & taxiways? They are clearly not there in FS2004, so the refuel point possibly isn't either.
Although from memory, I don't think FSNAV looks at what scenery is actually in use, it just reads in any BGL it finds.

Hi David
Yes.. I have to agree with most if not all of that. I've known about autofuel points since.. well, they've been there as long as I can remember though I can't recall using one for years

The way I've always known them to work is that you have to park.. that is with parking brake on close to the proximity of the AFP for it to work. In previous incarnations (FS2002 e t c), the area was bounded by a box and as long as one wheel was in the box.. you could hit the parking brake and a few seconds later your aircraft would be full. Going close to one and getting tanked doesn't make sense.
That said.. I remember doing the Highlands and Islands a couple of years ago with FlyNET in a Rapide and as I approached Tingwall, I had around 20kg of fuel but by the time I'd turned off the runway.. my tanks were full! :o I mentioned it to John at the time who may also remember it! Been there since and it didn't happen
Fran..
Perhaps John will delete that flight for you (he's on a short break at the moment but due back today) ;-)

Hi Dave
This is interesting.
I reckon that with the DM 1975 EGCC scenery installed, the nearest fueling point is at Woodford !
I've managed to find and fill a 1-11 from the fuel point at default Woodford.
There is a small fuel station visible there. It also shows as a red/orange square on the FSNAV map.
No such place exists at my 1975 EGCC, even using FSNAV to locate the exact spot where it stood on a previous EGCC scenery. I've been all around it trying to get fuel.
Like Fran's, my FSNAV map of EGCC also shows every taxiway & runway that is loaded on FS2004, regardless of whether it is actually active.
Mine even displays runways 10/28 and 02/20 from the 1960s version that I started and never finished !
There doesn't seem to be a way of setting a fuel point using AFCAD, so it must be some other static scenery BGL that is responsible for it.
And, whatever it is, it gets overwritten by the exclusions in my airport scenery.
So is it even possible for a pilot to get fuelled up automatically at my EGCC 1975? I don't think it is.

Unless Fran & others have some other scenery addon that adds fuel trucks, or something like that?
Is there such a thing in common use?

Hiya David
It's a mystery mate. My FSNav (Lee's too when he was here) also showed ILS's for runways that weren't there which did make me stratch the old bonse a bit

Is it possible perhaps that Fran picked up the fuel at EGPE as that is from whence he came
Looking at the default scenery (I try not to).. the taxiway off the end of 24 (as shown on Fran's illustration) goes past the M$ refuelling point but not, I'd have thought, close enough for it to pick up fuel. That said.. I don't know what the physical size of refuelling boudary is and have no way of being able to find out  Regardless.. these things should ONLY work if you're stopped with your parking brake on but I know from my experience at Tingwall that this aint always the case. I've been past that area god knows how many times before and have not had it happen but I've been back to Tingwall a number of times and it's not happened again
I suspect/am almost certain that DM EGCC 1975 is NOT the cause of the problem as they seem to occur randomly AND with default scenery (there's absolutely nowt at Tingwall believe me).. however unlikely that is
Fran.. you mentioned you found the one at Inverness. You didn't happen to stray over it as you taxied for the flight back to Manchester did you by any chance??

Yes Dave,
taxiing out at Inverness I had at my left the gasoline station, but no stop...
In this shot here to you the situation, in a cessna.
Is not a default afcad, I have found it in this package at avsim: mafcad8.zip

Afternoon All,
Just following this thread with interest, I have tried taxying past/parking over the fueling point area at EGCC (I am using David's 1975 scenery), as yet I have not been able to get fuel in the tanks, so I also believe that this is NOT the cause of the problem.
Sadly I am at work at the moment so I cannot experiment but Dave B's post above and Fran's reply have set me thinking. Fran said that he Taxied close to but did not stop at the Inverness fuel point.
My thoughts are, as I understood, all you needed to do was to stop by a fueling point with your wheels in the binding area (box) and you would be refulled. I do not believe that you have to apply the parking brakes. Depending on how FS calculates the speed of the A/C for this purpose could a speed of 0 KIAS be registered, if the wind/speed is in the right direction.
A shot in the dark I know but this issue has puzzled me for some time.
Cheers

Hi Andy
Tks for that ;-) I know that back in the dark days.. you couldn't pick up fuel unless the PB's were on but I can't be sure of that in FS9. It seemed logical to continue but that's a contradiction for M$ isn't it
I currently have Scotflight scenery for Inverness but I'll try pulling that one Fran's using off Avsim ;-)
Right Guy's..
Take a look at the shot below..

I stopped here briefly with 10% fuel and I was close enough for the tanks to autofill. It's worth noting that although the refuelling station looks obvious on the external shot.. at that point, it's unsighted from the main view. It is possible to pull out of a parking space (to the right of the Cessna) and unwittingly not have enough power on to continue rolling and hey presto.. full tanks. BTW.. that shot is taken with MATVA's mafcad8.. the same as Fran is using. There is a taxiway around the fuel point (where I'd expect to autofuel) but it's boundary extends beyond that onto the taxiway. The only thing I can suggest is that you either keep well away from this area if using mafcad8 OR.. make sure you continue rolling. Stop there for any more than 2secs and you'll be in the brown stuff ;-)

Hi Guys,
Just had a quick scan through this post and taken a look at the reports and for sure it looks like a 100% fuel on departure from Inverness. This can either be caused by starting the flight in the client whilst the sim is paused or by a fuel uplift from a refuel point. Just for info here are the fuel figures recorded :-
Fuel at end of previous flight 1966kgs
Fuel purchased 2950kgs
Block fuel 0 kgs
Fuel at end of flight 8229kgs
When the flight was reviewed, an FSA average block fuel of 2653kgs was applied for the a/c flying that distance and shows as additional purchase and also as block fuel. Full fuel on the 1-11-500 is 11121kgs so with 8229kgs being left in the tanks it looks like Fran used 2892kgs. This is pretty close to what FSA calculated which is why I suspect 100% fuel on departure.
I've just done a few experiments in FS9 with the 1-11-500 at the refuelling point at default Norwich Airport and this is what I've found :-
As long as I kept the aircraft moving, power on, power off (coasting) or in pushback then no fuel was uplifted.
If I stopped the aircraft moving but kept some power on against the foot brakes no fuel was uplifted.
If I stopped the aircraft but kept some power on against the parking brakes no fuel was uplifted.
If I stopped the aircraft with no power on and with foot brakes on, parking brake on or no brakes on then I was refuelled to 100%.
Whether any add-on airports with add-on refuelling points behave the same way I'm not sure. Interestingly, I couldn't refuel at all at default East Midlands Airport. The only difference between the refuelling points was the Norwich one had a roof over it but EMA didn't.
Regards
John
