Well TileProxy failed miserable time for me... I downloaded installed and followed instruction, FS froze at loading got to about 30% then hung, also it was throwing up website serch engines from place I had not heard of before, which was weird and slightly worrying... So its deleted now, although when you unistall it it still leaves the folder in FS with a lot of stuff in..manually deleted it... will make do with what I have and wait for a clever chap or chapes to do the CI in phot scenery...
Cheers for the help though it did look promising.

Tony, until it has preloaded all 8 sections, it will hold at 30%. If you have a slower machine, it will take longer to load them (takes me about 15-20 minutes first time for a given area). Rest assured, it's not hung up. As for the sites, they are actually the repositories where the images that Google Earth, Yahoo Maps, et al. are held.

Thanks Chris, that explains it nicely, sadly waiting 20 mins or so is not an option when I want a quick flight...miserable ungrateful me! But thanks anyway

Well, the plus side though Tony, is that if you can wait through the load time, as long as you start in the same general area the next flight (or at least the same area as you landed in the last time), the load time will be almost nil as it saves the tiles until the next session.

Hi all
Thanks for HU, was unaware such programmes existed.I found tile proxy at sourceforge .net (latest beta 8 released 28/10) but says operating system is XP - will it work on Vista?
Being a Guernseyman would love to see detail - might even spot my Mum's house!!!!!
Cheers

Hi Folks
Rick Piper wrote:A friend of Paul (Basys) was making a good looking Alderney photo scenery but not seen it released.
I can't recall ATM
who was creating the Channel Isles photo-scenery.
It wasn't our mutual.
I do recall it involved hi-res commercial imagery.
The screenies Rick refers to
were for several small islands around England & Wales
that Horizon had rubbed-out / submerged.
Those are still in the pipeline.

Chris,
Re Tileproxy working with Vista - yes it does. I took the plunge yesterday after seeing those screenies that Rick posted and it works well for me. A useful site to visit to get you up and running is...
http://www.edtruthan.com/tileproxy/tutorial/
The site inludes a proxyuser.ini file to get going with the minimum of fuss.
Regards,
Chris
