We are so lucky to have two VC10 drivers amongst us - and that they share their love --- Thank you gents

Tonks -- Tag asks why the Queen has a long tail and also may we have #1 please

Scary when a five year old refers to a VC 10 as "Queen of the Skies"

It's a privilege to be able to fly her - even on the days when they are a little temperamental (it took a fair while to get the pictured hose to play yesterday!).

The real "Queen of the Skies" she is, and I doubt we'll ever see an airliner designed again with her style and charisma (and noise!). :) I just hope our lords and masters let her stay around long enough for me to have a year or two in the left hand seat one day. :)

I must add here that were are very very fortunate.

The numer of 'on the job' pics that we get here of a quality and type rarely found in anything other the odd official pics

And to have them taken and posted by a TC and featuring another aircraft flown by a forum member is truly astounding. :o

One of those times the more I think about it the more amazed I become :)

In 1961, shortly after leaving the RAF, I worked in the VC10 wing shop at Weybridge. It was pretty noisy making them!

We lived very close to Wisley, so the aircraft was a very familiar sight to us. Never tired of watching them though.

Very nice shots. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Dennis.

Nice to see HC still hanging onto a pair of white flying gloves and not the hideous new black ones  Have you posted this before mate as I seem to remember seeing HC at the yoke before?? (EDIT).. no, I found an almost identical pic! Once more.. I'd be no good as the 'Memory Man' in the 39 Steps!

Be there and cope.. wise words sir
