When My wireless Saitek Evo thing packed up, I got a Logitech 3D Pro thing as an interim measure but so far I've been using it ever since
Its got 12 buttons and a throttle on it so I can have lots of commands on it. The action is quite pleasant and is quite precise.

Saitek X52 here, my third Saitek stick. Loads of buttons, hat switches, sliders and wheels, and all programmable. My only reservation would be that the spring is a bit weak making it a little floppy but hey, thats the story of my life.

The latest Saitek stick and throttle combo is the X52 Pro.

The Saitek is very good, and gets a thumbs up from me, but be sure that you visit your local PC World/Dixons/Currys etc to try it out before you buy, to me whilst the stick itself was good and solid and packed with features it seemed as though it was designed for people with small hands in mind... I never thought my hands were that large but I found myself having real difficulties getting comfortable with the X-52 as it was just too small to use properly. The only viable UK alternative to the Sidewinder that I have found is the Top Gun Fox 2 Pro from Thrustmaster. My girlfriend uses one (I use the HOTAS Cougar) but it "feels" almost exactly as my sidewinder felt and was just as comfortable to boot, if slightly cheaper construction wise.

I've just checked the Thrustmaster website and they don't make the Top Gun Fox 2 Pro anymore, it's been replaced by the T.Flight Stick X which has many more buttons (always a good thing) and is fully programmable. So I'd plump for this as a Sidewinder replacement. Admittedly you have to put up with the slightly garish exterior with strips adorning the stick and base but it's a small price to pay to not end up with RSI!

Chris, I take it you know the bottom part of the X52 joystick is adjustable for different hand sizes?

Without wanting to hi-jack Jims' Post, I too am on the lookout for a new joystick as the one I have (a bog standard Microsoft which is now nearly 8 years old) is on its' way out. Looking at the Logitech 3D Pro at £49.99, Comet.

Any info on this one?

Even at the largest settings I found it too small; I abhor the whole cage contraption that sits around your right hand as it makes me feel like my fingers are being crushed and I find it very uncomfortable for prolonged use.

I'm using the non force feedback version and it cost me about £25. Its at least as good as my old Saitek Cyborg Evo.

If you look back to my previous post on this thread, Nigel, you'll see that I use one of these and I also bought one for a friend. I bought them both from a guy on eBay who sells them refurbished (by Logitech) for around £22 including postage. They're good as new and a bit cheaper.
