What I still want to know is, why was a certain English Electric type named after an Australian city?
And a certain DH twin renamed by the RAF after a county?

Boston was another named one... The Canbeer was name that as the Oz's were the first order on the plates and at that time the aircraft wasnt named...

A while back BA had ordered a new fleet of shorthaul aircraft and asked staff for suggestions for individual names. They ran a competition in British Airways News. Everybody's favourite suggestion was from a Captain. Scottish Glens. Glen Livet, Glen Morangie, Glen Fiddich, Glen Moray ...

Did have a nice ring about it

............On the otherhand the Minibus fleet named "Island of wherever" was a bit corny
