I get the feeling that they're trying to replicate the sliding that you get in a tight turn, where the aircraft is virtually turning in a high alpha angle of attack. Lock On seems to replicate this very well. However, it's very difficult to achieve such a characteristic in Flight Sim, due to the obvious flight dynamics constraints and terrible stall properties.

Although there is that freeware Mirage 2000N for FS9 which flies just like that, and doesn't drop out of the sky when you do it. Very fun to fly, I might add!

I was under the impression that the elevators work as ailerons as well.. tailerons in short.

Beta testing is a sore point on this one. It's actually been in testing for over 8 months. Ask Chris.

I believe the correct terminology is elevons ?, and yes thats my understanding of how the Tornado worked :).

although it has a clear tendancy to stall if you try to turn very tightly at all.

To be fair I don't think the Tornado is renowned for it's manoeuvrability, with the high wing loading it inherited from the GR.1 the F.3 can struggle to hold it in a turning fight.

With respect :), elevons on delta wing forms, tailerons on seperate tail surfaces, I'm wrong in that the Tornado is taileron, but the Typhoon is a delta ergo elevon.

Certainly, but I'm really very doubtful that a Tornado will simply drop out of the sky if you go into a max rate turn!

Like I say, due to the constraints of FS, I'm sure it's very difficult to properly replicate the turning characteristics, but it does seem to stall a little too easily.

I've seen the screenies of the F3 and it certainly looks nice.. even though I doubt I'll be buying it. Too fast for me by half! From experience.. the last 'batch' of Alpha fast jets have shown a tendancy toward highspeed stalls so if the same team are responsible for the FD on this release.. I'm not surprised it reacts in the same way.

I must admit I'm tempted but the price is too high and in any case I think I'll wait for the inevitable patches and updates to be worked through first. From the pictures I'm not hugely keen on the cockpit but maybe the actual one is better than the piccies. I notice that the blurb says that much of the cockpit is interactive but previous releases have been very poor in this area.

Cheers,
Chris
