BBC says "record turnout of 45%" which means 55% didn't bother.
Perhaps they have no idea what the Mayor does either.

45% is 10% up on last time.... moving in the right direction. Personally i think it should be a legal requirement to vote.

I'd say Boris is a lot sharper than some people realise. His public persona is obviously a front that plays up to the impression those on the left have of someone who went to public school, which has the advantage of ensuring they underestimate him.
Re: As our American mates would say...HOLY CR*P!!
He is, but he is also very prone to making gaffs which have in the past made him look a bit of a fool however, many within the politic circus appear to have a lot of respect for him so well done Boris, just think through carefully what you say before you say it!!!'d say Boris is a lot sharper than some people realise
As regards to Ken Livingstone please correct me if I am wrong but I am sure that I read that he only campaigned for the Olympics to be held in London not for the prestige of the games itself but so he could have extra money to improve the infrastrure of transportation in London, as far as the Olympics go, he has no real interest in it. So, in effect. he has campaigned for his own ends and now leaves us taxpayers an enormous tab to pick up which has now far exceeded the original estimate. Thanks Ken and good riddance!!!

I used to be an optimist but with age I am now a grumpy old pessimist.

It's all a front with Boris.
He's a very astute and intelligent man.
Whether that is good or bad for London remains to be seen.
