I was on shift that day and watched it on approach. There was a strong crosswind and several aircraft had already gone around.

The next aircraft to land was a Euromanx Dash 8 200 which got in with no problems and I believe he reported debris on the runway as the next inbound went around and a runway inspection was carried out.

I don't know what the crosswind limits on the RJ are but our Fokker 50's have a limit of 23kts at LCY and 33kts everywhere else. Quite a few of ours had already diverted.

Just hope none of the passengers aboard had haemorrhoids when they experienced that landing or rather should I say.....arrival? :o

Hm, that must be the time a little old lady passenger asked the flight attendant ....

"Did we land, or were we shot down!?"

I'd give it about a -7!

Thats just about the worst real life landing I've ever seen that doesn't result in half the plane being left on the tarmac!

Tonks....when i was at RAF Gatow a VC10 was "loaned" to a film crew for a sequence and we all went out on the apron to fully appreciate the beauty of the VC10 landing at Gatow....

Now this is a small field but did have the Britannia 737's landing there on trooping flights....

OK someone spotted her flying in on approach and everything looked ok right until the pilot actually tried to land.....

(Just checking tonks.....you didn't come to Gatow in 86 did you....? :worried: )

Anyway.....the graceful old lady flared for what looked like a perfect touchdown but......thats when it all went screwy..... :o

The nose dropped , nosewheel hit first , bounced up , then nosewheel again then starboard main then port then full power and around she went.....gave us time to write our scorecards out and the pilot brought it around for a second go.....even worse than the first..... :-#

By this time us groundcrew where rolling around on the tarmac holding onto our bladders.....can you picture that....?

He finally plonked it down on the 3rd try and we all stood there as he taxied in holding our scorecards up....Guess who got the blame...?

Yeah the poor old co-pilot....

That day i really thought i would see a crash of a BIG plane (seen loads of little ones crash) Oh that was a laugh......no disrespect Sir....

SAC Techy111......... :D
