My first impression was a UPS 767 but the wing looks wrong
I agree with you about the static wicks

We seem to have taken a bunch of hits this fall and winter and thats usually what gets MEL'd first

Very impressive bit of film though and I think your right - the person was filming the thunderhead and the aircraft
flew into the field.

Yeah, static wicks and fiberglass tip covers (wing, stab, tail, etc) seem to be what usually ceases to exist after a lightning strike.

The most memorable strike for me was a UPS A300 coming into Denver one day missing an entire flap canoe (the fairing that covers the flap track and shuttle when the flaps are retracted) that was blown off by a lighting strike. It was my good fortune because it allowed me to get detailed photos of how the flap mechanism works for Erick Cantu for the SGA A300s.
