Yep... I did them for VA use rather than general release as there is an Air Canada in the modelrelease pack

Screenshots for anyone interested

Absolutely beautiful repaints Garry :)

I will download them right away. Although it may be Monday before i get to set off as I have noticed that CBF1619 from Entebbe to Heathrow is 3500+ miles so tomorrow may be a long day in a 10...

Cheers

Hi Chris,
Looks like you're unlucky this time, Andy's bagged KE at LHR, DaveB is on the way to Gander with KU and I've just landed at Gander with KQ. If you want to revalidate on the Vanguard let me know.

DaveB,
Interestingly we both departed EGCC with both a/c at 100% maintenance state. I don't think my landings are that bad but you have used up less maintenance time than me - do you get the cabin staff to throw a couple of duvets under the wheels just as you flare to cushion your landings   . Narsarsuaq looked like a buzzin' place - not! I was going to nightstop but didn't fancy kipping in the terminal or the aircraft so I pressed on to Gander. I'm going to continue on to Montreal/Toronto and who knows, I may even venture across to Vancouver. Nice little earners, the Vanguards but I can't seem to get a grip of the ap. Whenever I change altitude it drops off heading hold and the attitude hold is either on or off - damned frustrating, hopefully Fraser will have fixed it with his new package.

Hi John,

Its an interesting point that you have made regarding maintenance levels after the same flights. I also noticed that you seem to take less time and use less fuel than Dave.
Assuming that you flew the same course which is unlikely do you fly at similar altitudes? and with real weather.

I am now waiting to see how my results compare, although looking at the routing that FSNav gave me ( to Keflavik via the swedish coast and from Keflavik via a round trip of Iceland then routing over keflavik :dunno: ) I may find myself flying twice the distance

Still I will set out late tomorrow and see how I do.

And youre right about the Vanguard on both counts John. A beautiful AC to fly which is a nice little earner but the AP does take a little getting used to, but when you do, a nice Aircraft.

Later

Andy

P.S. if any of this message makes sense, I blame the Guinness. :drinkers:

Hi Andy,

I think I may fly a little higher than DaveB as I think he gets a nosebleed above 10,000ft and the Rapides'll think he's got a mistress. I was cruising at 24,000ft @245kias and managed to pick up a bit of a tailwind. Interestingly in the de-ice panel, when you turn on the thermal heaters (I think?), the engines slow, the fuel flows decrease but with seemingly little effect on IAS. Don't forget as well the fuel scalar adjustment to 0.84 for more accurate fuel useage. Routings were direct as little else to go with, and yes real weather using Active Sky.

TBH :$ :$ :$

I've never managed to turn the autopilot on :o

:worried: :worried:

Mind you I don't do a lot of flying other that for screenshots :)

Are you guys using the new paints???

Hi Garry,

The ap master switch is on the main radio panel not the auxilliary (ap only) panel popup. On this occasion no I didn't use the TKQ paint but I did have TKE. I'll grab the paints before I do more flying.

Hi Guy's..

In the air as I speak not that many miles from BOD for Gander.

Been interested in the results too.. especially how John managed to get to Greenland in a little over 2hrs and it took me 2hrs 17 :o A probable explanation for the latter is my route. Not been there for a long time (and we all know why.. or should if we've been there before)!! I chose the NE runway and John must have chosen the SW runway and that's the difference in times. Had I left FSNav to it's own devices, I'd have been in the side of a mountain long ago so.. flew the last 40 or so miles manually.. avoiding the hard bits. Left me a bit flustered hence a landing of -136fpm :worried: The previous 2 were -44 and -39 respectively so I guess John is throwing it down a bit!

Cost wise.. up to Greenland, Johns speed had earned v$13,396,200 and my slightly slower approach had earned v$13,457,400 :o

For all of these flights (less the Man to EGPK).. I've flown at FL210. Anything under 2hrs and you are just as well flying at FL150. Time differential is in the region of 5 or 6mins and fuel useage is nominal ;-)

Right.. BOD.. gotta go.

Hi Dave,

I was interested to compare costs etc also. Don't forget though, my airframe had dry tanks when I collected her from EGCC. I took a visual at Nars' and landed on rwy 03(? ) with a righthand circuit approaching over the water which I think is same rwy you used? I started off with a bit of a headwind which changed to a tailwind about midway. I must dig out some paperwork so I can fly 'by the book' rather than 'by ear'. My fuel flow were @ 650kgs per engine in cruise.
