James - unfortunately the Hong Kong scenery isn't free, it costs about £20. I don't normally buy scenery but I really wanted this one because it is such an interesting place to land. This airport closed in 1998 and is no longer used.

By the way, I like your BBMF banner - it looks really smart ;-) I'm not sure that your English grammar is quite so good in your tribute to Steve Irwin! 'You was the best there ever was' doesn't sound right to me. What about 'You were the best there ever were'? Hmmm....that's not right either Oh well - how about 'there wasn't nobody what was more better than what you was'? Perhaps we'd better leave it as it is! Anyway, bless him, he was really nice

As for the rest of you feeling sorry for the little girl - you're obviously fathers and far too soft to be real pilots! When she grows up to be a stewardess she will realise that all pilots talk to girls like that!

My daughter get's that now as it's usually she that brings my dinner up to the toyroom and rarely am I not somewhere at decision height.. 'Just put it down there Helen!' She actually wanted to be a pilot when she left school but I honestly couldn't say if that's a bit too much of me rubbed off on her. I'm not so sure what the hell she wants to do now
One things for sure.. I don't want her joining the Navy!!

Seeing as we seemed to have frequented a certain airline haunt in Copthorne at the same time I'd say our longetivity is about the same
(I'd tell you about my Callie kilt pin collection back then but this is a family site OFFTOPIC

Funny, even now I dont see the jump seat as a priveledge - its just the place I sit when Im traveling on company aircraft

I did Stonecutters four times - once in a Britannia , once in CL44 and twice in the eight - the Eight I sat in the seat - as you looked right over the
Capts head - the Brit and the 44 the jump seats didnt give you any forward view - so I you wanted to watch behind the FE was the best place.
of course as we were freighters it wasnt often there was a "fight" for the position - If we carried a Nav he was usually asleep in his seat. -
There were other spectacular approaches as well - funnily enough the approach to LGA is fairly spectacular on the jump seat and the SAN approach
is a real roller coaster. As to the the little girl - well Im not sure about in the UK but in the US there is a 'Sterile" cockpit rule below 10000 feet.
the last flight I rode into Vegas on our own aircraft I spent most of the time searching for a SWA 737 landing ahead of us - which the guys
lost in the late afternoon glare on 25L - three times the PF asked me where it was - the third time luckily (unlike FS) it was on the second highspeed.
