Aww no, I was actually in the NL Antilles in August. Okay we went to Curacao (top run ashore by the way) to think we could have manufactured an excuse to go to that little runway as well!!

I'd be intrigued to see it, no doubt it's as equally impressive as the landing!

Hi Chris

Think this is the same airport though the take-off isn't as good as the landing simply because the co-pilot was not filming it. Far too busy the both of them to ensure they got airborne before reaching the end of the runway!!

Sorry Nigel, I think we've got our wires crossed. I was talking about wanting to see a take-off from the greasy speck of mud that the Otter lands on in the clip John posted as opposed to the original post. As short as the runway is in the original video I can actually comprehend a take-off from there with a good stiff breeze; where as the video John posted.... I can't see it flying out on it's own. :o

Well, I have SABA 2004 (by coincidence actually, never actually flown in) and so I tried it this afternoon. Sadly, it took me 3 tries to get the right approach path to land on the numbers and stop in time. The other times I either came in too shallow or too steep and because there's no glidepath guidance and it's an elevated runway, it's definitely tricky. I'm sure in the real world they have a written approach procedure for whatever airline operates into the airport that makes it much simpler. Once you get it right though, it's quite fun actually.

BTW, I used the Project TWOTTER DHC-6 which has by-far the best Twin Otter flight dynamics out there even if their manual uses RPMs for the props (when the gauges are %) and % N1 for power when it's only got a torque gauge (and this is using the included DHC-6 panel for the plane, not a 3rd party one).
