Hi,
The golfballs were a great reference when walking on the North Yorks moors and they always looked sort of ominous.
I've been on a few visits to Fylingdales over the years, in both golfball and pyramaid eras. In the golfball time they did a simulation of a missile attack from "the east" - 5 or 6 people shouting various gobbledygook to each other for 5 minutes. It was incomprehensible but very impressive !! The new display screens are also impressive as you can watch satellites meandering across the skies.
The time inside the golfballs was a bit scary - several tons of radar scanner gyrating above you in a random fashion - noisy and a very strong smell of heavy oil - unforgettable.

Hi Jim
It's nice to see i am not alone in the world of "if at first you don't succeed, kick the S*** out of it and shout profanities"
Must be a services thing
Regards
Rick
